The games arent even remakes, they are sequels - so there should be no expectation that the games should follow the same path as the original especially with the existence of ports of the OG on all platforms and Ever Crisis.
Edit: Highly recommend people to play OG FF7 before Remake and Rebirth at the very least. Also watch Advent Children the movie as well.

There's just so many references from the OG FF7 game in Remake from what I played that hinted multiple times that FFVII Remake takes place after OG FFVII in some way. Also the fact that the main theme song from Advent Children played a bit.

I played the game, why would it matter about playing the original. The story is broken regardless of the original. That's like saying I don't have a platform to discuss The King James bible because it's not the original. You don't have a platform to tell others to not have an opinion on a piece of media because it wasn't consumed the "right way".
