You're very wrong. I LOVED it, God Of War 3 is one of my best games ever and so is Sekiro, Stellar Blade and Neir Automata. They are all the same character action genre just evolved.
.... Okay, I'm being a bit harsh on DMC. Back in the day DMC4 had me addicted for days and I loved DMC 5 so much despite the flaws that I played every mission twice and playing as Dante with SSS all the way is absirdly fun in DMC5. They are fun and weaving combos can feel really good but it's archaic now.
Sekiro changed the game and devs are wise to follow, even in indie 2d games like Nine Sols. The parry mechanics and are the best thing to happen to the genre since God Of War '05. The dopamine flowing is unreal, You get jaded to SSS ranks but never to timing many parties and not getting hit, it never fails to be immensely rewarding.
But hey, remember to each their own.
