Question: As somebody who has only briefly played Dark Souls (gave up b/c too hard), would Bloodborne be a good game to try? Even w/out having played any souls games?

It's the one I started with. Considering you're fairly competent with action game and you have a patient mind, you will have about ten hours of a hump to get over until the game clicks. Problem is the first section of the game is super difficult and you have to beat the first boss to level up but I promise if you do so and persevere you will open up one of the greatest genres in games to yourself. Now I really must stress, you need a patient mind, if you fly off the handle easy think twice but I was one that would get frustrated easily and I can thank Bloodborne and Souls games for making me a more patient person less prone to outburst and helped me get more in control of my emotions.

Once you beat the first boss and get the ability to level up you basically access the in game difficulty slider and you can tailor how difficult the game is by grinding out levels to a certain degree. Also if you are not familiar with how weapon scaling works in Japanese game you will need to consult a guide and in that regard it's probably best to consult a guide anyway, have it explained what might work best for you and your initial hump might be shorter as that 10 hours assumes you will be restarting your class and beginning again.

Good luck and as they say, git gud scrub. 👍
