Update the OP. Another wave has occurred. This is absolutely the most insane warfare we've ever seen, I thought Stuxnet was next level but this takes the cake. Can we expect our phones lithium batteries to start melting the skin off our legs now?

While that can happen, these devices were rigged with explosives. Likely set off by overheating the battery in some way.

Li-Ion batteries can explode as well, but cause less damage than the rigged devices.

The biggest danger is copycats. Now it has been demonstrated, any psychopath can mess with a device and simply restock it, return it, refurbished ticking time bombs... And Israel is always so willing to sell their latest terror tactics to even the most dubious regimes.

Death toll in Lebanon blasts rises to 37

Lebanon’s Health Minister Firass Abiad has said, in the latest news briefing in Beirut, that the death toll from the two waves of attacks across the country has risen to 37.

On Tuesday, 12 people were killed and 2,323 admitted to hospital, including 226 who remain in critical condition. The following day, 25 people were killed and 708 wounded, including 61 who remain in intensive care units.

I'm very much confounded
