Nice one. As we currently have the greatest 50 games thread, I just counted how many games from each year I had in the list. From the last 10 years 2012-1015 all had the same amount. So I go with 2015. It had Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Pillars of Eternity, Disgaea 5, Armello and Splatoon.
EDIT: Oh, and I see the current poll result shows no recency bias at all. 
Maybe the question should have been which year of the 90s or 00s was the best. In these cases recency would be out of the window.
