Mnementh said: Well, the PS3 and the 3DS proof, that momentum can be turned around. It is very difficult and expensive though. And you're wrong, if you say games have no effect. OK, you said exactly: 'The fact of the matter is, if you are relying on a game you will be sorely disappointed.' As you worded it, it is right. The PS3 was not saved by a single game, but the games (multiple) did it. So that's the option, you didn't mentioned: gameS are coming might change the momentum (not a single game). As I have no insight into the future, I have no idea if it will turn the fate for WiiU. We will see, I have a thread that helps to check it: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=152379
At the moment I hope Sony can apply the momentum-changing formula they used on PS3 for the Vita. That is the patient that needs some new therapy the most at the moment. I also have a thread to track success on this: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=153538 |
Hasn't the line for the Wii U been adjusted down since you posted it? Also, even multiple games didn't help the Ps3. It is a combo of games and price. The longer it's out without generating interest the harder it will be to turn it around. You list the Ps3 and 3ds but niether of them reached the lows the Wii U has had. I'm sure it will turn around but I don't think it will be as significant as Nintendo fans think it will be. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't think the Wii U will even cross 20mil by next years end which is not good.
As for Vita I say it's too late and is a good indication of where the Wii U is headed if Nintendo doesn't get on it quickly.

There there multiple adjustments since I started the thread and I'm working them into the graphs. The last adjustment were lowering the sales of WiiU for 2013 (for Vita too) and adjusting up the sales of WiiU in 2012. The last part surprised me, as the launch-number of WiiU already were impressive. The adjustments together made the hard fall after the holidays even bigger.
Yes, PS3 and 3DS had never so bad sales as the Vita and the WiiU. Do you think there is a number, under that a recovery is impossible? That would be sad. And I don't think the WiiU will recover to domination either, I wasn't even expecting domination from the WiiU before it launched. Recovery for me means that the system (be it WiiU or Vita) reach sustainable levels.
