I have both systems. I haven't played my elite since Gears 2. paying for online isn't really that expensive. It just seems that 360 is losing steam and ps3 is picking up momentum all the time.
You're an online player I'd have to say get a PS3. here's why
Dedicated servers.
Resistance 2= 64 players online and lag free
Killzone 2= undoubtedly some of the best graphics to date with 32 online and lag free
Uncharted 2= '09 best game of the year. nothing else compares.
Jan 26 MAG= 256 online with great gameplay. Makes you fight as a team to rank up.
People say "it's all about the games" that's true in a sense. consoles can't swap out graphic cards on a whim. You want a quality product that doesn't have a large failure rate and that can carry you into the forseeable future and keep improving. they are only now tapping into the power of the ps3. If you build a great system the games are going to get better and better.

get the PS3 slim and get the 250 gig model. the PS3 is an awesome console...
I have 2 PS3's a phat with a 160 gig hard drive and i have a slim with a 250 gig hard drive.
I also had the 360 and it was good but not as good as the PS3.
plus paying 50 dollars a year for live is a waste and psn does the same thing for free

Ps3 definately. Free online (which is not as inferior as everyone claims), Wifi (no need to buy a crazy adapter so you can get online wireless) Bluray, Reliable hardware, and the most important thing, an extremely great amount of amazing games.

Xbl is better but mainly only for downloads. PS3 has free online and for something that's free, it's pretty fucking good. If there are games that interest you on ps3 and the online is the only thing that worries you, you should get a ps3. MAG can handle 256 players so i dont think the online could be that bad. Also, the ps3 is picking up speed and is actually coming out with more cool exclusives over the next year.

If online multiplayer is very important to you than go with the 360, XBL is better than PSN  but there are more things right out of the box with the PS3 such as wifi, blu ray, wireless controller, wireless controller charger and free online gaming. Also it's a better built machine and quieter and produces less heat. 360 does have some amazing games and it's multi plat games are usually better than the PS3 versions but 2009 belongs to the PS3 and if your more interested in newer games than the PS3 is the better choice. So far single player is better on PS3 imo but it could all change this year.

UC2,KZ2,R2 and LBP.. Maybe GT5..
