No US bundling at all. The Uncharted bundle was the only bundle in the US when LBP launched. And UK's might make up of... oh 50k sales... IF that.

50k?  When it was bundled for a year and Europe heavily imports from UK?

Yes 50k. A year? I call bull shit on that. There were still 80 gig MGS4 bundles scattered months and months after MGS4's launch. Doesn't mean months and months later they were being replenished.

Profit is a different matter, I am sure the overpriced DLC they released in mass took care of that.

I'm sure the first week took care of that. I don't see how 25 devs for 2 years would take up much money.

But... the... retailer has to pay for that... so... why should it count against sales for sony?

The game is a new IP, AND TO SELL 3 MILLION in this market of sequels, that is a massive win...and weather you think it is a flop in the sales department, it is a HUGE win in th QUALITY of game department...ICO never sold well, S.O.T.C., did not sell as expected, VIEWTIFUL JOE also did not do the numbers it was supposed to, OKAMI, BEYOND GOOD & EVIL, MAXIMO and ZONE OF THE ENDERS are all victims of the sales bug, but all have 1 thing in common....their all GREAT games.

Need more posts like that... less like maynards.

@KylieDog

I am 100% certain they didn't need the DLC to turn a profit.

As already mentioned, this was a 25 man dev team that started in a studio above a toilet store.

This was their first game ever and it goes on to sell 3M+ and counting and continues to have healthy legs.

I would easily call that a "Hit".

Not aimed at Kyliedog:

I am curious. If 3M+ in 1+ years for a title that wasn't high budget, had a 25 man dev team and was a companies first ever title isn't considered a hit, what do we consider games like Mass Effect which had a much larger dev team and a much higher budget and went on to sell 2.13M in 2+ years?

Obviously if the tables were turned ME would be considered a flop... and I'm remembering the thread "which console has the worst fanboys" and many said Ps3... but its funny i've never seen a ps3 fan seriously say shit like "according to the hype..." or "according to MS expectations..."

it's sights like this that make me wonder why I come here sometimes, it's impossible for folks to just be happy for a game that's done well, they have to go out of their way to kick 7 bells of hell out of it.

It reached 3million on a console that's meant to be dead in the water when there was a (supposedly) better choice for the kids (aka the wii) out there. Give it the credit it's due exactly the same way people give Halo3, wii sports and mario kart wii the credit they deserve.

Sorry now you are going to far

The game was made by a handful of people and probably had the budget of a mid to high end Wii game. Obviously it was a flop...

The way it is talked about I would think Mass Effect was a hit. It is a fine game and I myself enjoy it very much.

I am just curious to know where this "Hit" barrier is located.
