New SMB Wii > Mario 64 + Sunshine + Galaxy combined.

And I think Galaxy is one of the 5 best games of the last decade.

If I want pure platforming I'd still go with 2D.

3D Mario is more about exploration to me, and less about platforming. In that sense I think there is more out there in modern gaming to fit the bill compared to 2D mario. I was never a big fan of Rare's games personally.

That said I'm glad we don't have to pick one, because they're both great and they both have a market/are being made now.

New Super Mario Bros Wii is a awesome game, but its just too short (beat it in 2 days)!! I'll take a long 3D Mario over another short 2D Mario game every time!!

I havent played NSMB yet, however SMW remains my fav mario, and i didnt rly like SM64 :$

Super Mario Galaxy is my fave Mario ever it is a real masterpiece and I'm very hyped for its sequel SMG 2

I hardly believe you wont all the levels and got all the coins, and even if you did, i assure you 2D Marios are always fill of secrets that keep making them fun even after a 100 gameplays, not to mention the insane multiplayer

Anyone who prefers 3D mario to 2D mario is insane.

Talk about a Sophie´s Choise here. Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games ever made, a true masterpiece and my favorite mariogame to date. However, I LOVE 2d and really enjoyed all the 2d mariogames and I really didn´t like Super Mario 64 that much. Galaxy alone no matter how good it is cannot make me choose 3d over 2d.
So 2d wins.

I still haven´t played NSMBW though, I´m dying to do so!
