Forums - Sony Discussion - Microsoft has sealed Sony's fate in november....

I think they have a good line up right now but I don't see it making a permanent impact. Wal-Mart sales for the Xbox 360 rose 400%, Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest media launch in history and is heavily dominated on the Xbox 360, Left 4 Dead 2 comes out next week and the new Facebook/Twitter/Las.FM update is sure to follow. While this will probably all make a sales bleep I don't think it will be a sustained one.

2010 is the year for the Xbox 360 to come back. With both the strongest line up in games it has ever had and brand new hardware it has a very good shot at ousting the PS3 and possibly the Wii.

Well the ps3 has a stronger software lineup if you actually compare the lineups, i think double the number of exclusives announced so far. Also Sony is releasing new hardware aswell.

this only shows the 360 can nev er conpete with the PS3 at the same price.

And rightfully so.

If you bundle bluray, wifi and use a biggest brand name in gaming for the last 10 years how would a lesser known product compete at same price?

So you are saying that the PS3 is a better product for the same price. Ya I agree with you. lots of people seem to think that way as well.

If you are in to bluray, wifi and Playstation brand name...PS3 is the best console ever made.

And since I cannot quite imagine how someone will NOT WANT added Blu-ray and wi-fi at the same cost as the competition, I think you mean the PS3 is the best console ever made. I agree with you.

Oh except for the Playstation brand name part, I really don't think that matters.

Well, in games, 2010 isn't exaclty a lousy year for the PS3 either. Hardware-wise, the motion controller should come out before Natal, so that might give sony a bit of a limelight-steal as well. It should prove interesting though next year.

About this Walmart thing: any chance of them doing this for PS3 / Wii as well before Black Friday (when is that?). Because if it's several weeks from now, it would be a nice sales pitch if they had one every week for each console.

haha...riiiight!

It seems to matter to Japan and a lot of European countries who despite both consoles having 90% of the same library preffer the brand name they have bought the last 2 generations.

I think the chances of this type of deal for Nintendo or Sony is less because of the bad exchange rate.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

When people have to explain how unbiased they are, it just makes me think they're more biased (plus everyone is biased is one way or another). Hopefully, Sony can pull through and win this holiday.

If 360 does not win November, than something is wrong. But I expect PS3 to win December, Q1 2010, probably Q2 2010. Q3 will be close, and if Natal is a success, 360 back on top in Q4 2010...until a PS3 price cut, and the cycle repeats itself until this generation ends.

A bit of an over reaction from OP considering this was a one day offer at one specific retailer. Will probably not make a huge difference on the Monthly numbers, even for the US.

What I think is still yet to be seen is whether or not this 400% Walmart increase effected stores like Gamestop, Target, Bestbuy, etc... sales.

While Walmart may have gone up 400% isn't is possible that the others dropped for the week?

Probably not that much of a difference but who knows?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

If VGC is estimating 170k for the X360 this week in Americas, it means that the X360 is up 85k from last week. If Other and Japan numbers keep stable, then X360 should stand at around 247k WW this week, still below what the PS3 did last week. And the same article said X360 is ahead PS3 by 70% this week in Americas, so should we assume PS3 did 100k there, or so?

Conclusion - PS3 should beat the X360 by 25k or so this week. Plus things are faring well for HD consoles this month in USA, with both MW2 launch and X360's $100 gift card at Wal-Mart.
