RAAAAAAAAGGEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
I dont want it to die. I want its importance to dwindle.
I like adventure games and platformers the best and 3rd person shooters.
I wish the focus was more on them
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I own all of them (except for Punisher and the unreleased games)
and yes WEE NEED MORE FPS
if there were no FPS's, online wouldn't be anywhere near as popular (on consoles) as it is
I like FPSs but I am personally hoping the craze dies down and moves more towards action adventure games.

One of the greatest posts ever made, i wish everyone on this site could realize that.

You nailed it right on the head. The first person perspective is perfect for aiming a gun but horrible for eveything else. Imagine if Assasins Creed was a first person or Zelda. In third person you have so many more movement options that can't be practically conveyed from a first person perspective, and I enjoy variety in my gameplay. |
All the limitations of fps's will probably go away with the next generation of motion controls. Imagine head and eye tracking and full body motion capture. I can only see the first person genre getting bigger as it is arguable the most immersive game type although developers will probably start branching the genre out into different fields ala mirrors edge.
The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers
10 hours of shooting, shooting more shooting , a couple of tiny maps of online gameplay which include more shooting.
or
60 to 100 hours of deep gameplay, story, characters, world .......ect
No, I don't want the craze to die. I want them to become more original and less generic. Deus Ex came out in 2000 and I don't think there has been a FPS game as original or as ambitious since. Mirror's Edge comes close though.
