What was so sad about Lost Odyssey? I guess I missed that part.

*If it was the ending do not spoil it. I have yet to complete the game.*

Lirum's death was the saddest part for me.  As for the ending I thought it was mostly upbeat.

Lirum's death was what I thought some of the posters were referring to but I didn't find it sad at all because I had little to no connection to the character and Kaim up that point seemed to be lacking a lot of emotion. Could be maybe because I didn't read all of the dream sequences.

For me it was like "BAM! Here is his wife. BAM! She is now dying and Kaim remembers. BAM! Let's become emotional all of a sudden."

Then the kids start singing.

I was like "Huh?"

I get what your saying it could have been sadder.  I actually didn't read any of the dream sequences, but I plan to on my second playthrough and once I actually own the game (borrowed the game from a friend and beat it).

I know this doesn't go for everyone but the reason I did not read through all of the dream sequences is because you know how people complain about wanting to play a game instead of watching a movie? (MGS4) With that I felt more like playing the game and not having to read a novel every 30 minutes or so, even thought they were very very well written.

Everything that makes that scene sad was probably explained in the dreams but I just felt like with this game I would have been better off reading a Lost Odyssey book before playing the game, that way I could actually get some worthwhile backstory on my character.

*"Explained in the dreams" meaning his emotions, etc.*

I don't know, I guess I just prefer my character to be fleshed out through gameplay and not text written on screen with a forest backdrop.

I still want to finish the game though. Only 1 disc left.

That is EXACTLY how I felt, 100%. I even started laughing a bit at how ridiculous it was.

It was pretty bad. It felt like it was just thrown in there so Kaim actually seems to be more than just an emotionless stiff.

I don't want to turn this into a "What I dislike about LO" thread so i'll leave it at that.

Criticism gets much worse if we talk about Tales of Vesperia's ending however. Talk about a big let down after hours of awesomeness.

^ It was the ending.

I thought the ending was fantastic, not quite tear inducing. The end of disc 1 did it for me.

Ahh, was it the sore legs from sitting for so long and then having to get up from the couch to change the disc?

Anyway, did you read the dream story? Wow it was cool, even being translated. I read every word out loud to a legally blind but still seeing guy.

No. I loved Lost Odyssey. The whole scene at the end of disc one.

And I didn't read too much into the dreams. Something I kinda regret, but I wanted to continue on with the main story.

I didn't feel too sad for Lirum and Kaim, but more so for Cooke and Mack. You spent all this time rescueing them, and it's terrible that children have their mother die right in front of them. Especially being that their only goal was to save her.

bioshock? hmmm well it is kinda sad that the lillte girl is running around in a big scary place and when you harvest her she moves and screams helplessly.

Well, not so much because of that.  Rather, I just found the good ending really touching.

(Yeah, yeah.  I'm a wuss.)

i thought the ending was nice too.(the good ending im assuming?)  idk why it seems to get so much hate from people.

I don't think Cooke and Mack sang when Lirum died. I think that was when they were trying to wake Sarah. It was still a sappy scene, though.
