Forums - Gaming Discussion - What exactly was wrong with Final Fantasy 12?

Hello Peeps!

Before I have to get Solid Snake to assassinate most of you, can anyone please tell me what was so horrible about Final Fantasy 12? I personally enjoyed the hell out of the game. Even so, I've heard alot of opinions that are in contrast to my own. So, care to explain?

Things I enjoyed:

Variety of weaponry, beautiful environments, MANY monster hunts, musical score, supporting characters.

Things I didn't enjoy:

Main Character [did he even have his own agenda?]

Guidelines to understanding my train of thought:

  • THE METAL GEAR SOLID FRANCHISE IS THE BEST THING TO HIT THE PLANET SINCE THE PS3!! THUS, MGS FRANCHISE >> SLICED-BREAD.
  • Solid Snake shall and well always shove 1up mushrooms up Mario's ass.
  • Solid Snake shall and well always decimate Master Chief with a flurry of rocket launchers, shotgun rounds, and a 20 minute monologue.

I'll take my chances with Snake

There are so much wrong with the game that I leave it for someone else to explain how bad this game was/is

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I really enjoyed the battle system of FF12, but I can definitely understand those that think the battle system added too much automaton to the JRPG genre. Personally I think it helped take the tedium out of grinding, I'd rather the characters just do the attacking themselves if all I need to do is the regular physical attacks.

The story in FF12 was alright, but it didn't have any really great characters in my mind. They were all ok, but none even stood out as the main character particularly, so there seemed to be something missing in the group.

...

There wasn't much wrong other than the camera.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

It was boring. I liked the free roaming, but the battle system dragged on. The roaming felt empty most of the time on travels. Oh yeah, the script sucked as well.

Lol. I honestly don't see what made it so bad in your eyes. Matter of fact, I don't really see what was wrong overall. The battle system definitely made things fresh for the FF series.

main characters are and storyline are boring and the gameplay is not that great. Graphics are good though for a PS2.

The final Fantasy series was old and outdated. FF XII dared to pumped some new life into it.

I mean...how dare it improve the series.

I absolutely love your sarcasm. xD!

FF12 is a Xcellent game...just not a Xcellent FF game. It really had nothing in common with the series, if you took out Chocobo's, the Moogles, and a few common monsters and magic it is its own game. Not to mention that FF12 is actually Vagrant Story dressed as FF ( the creater of VS directed 12) and said its a spiritual thing, notice how Vaan looks like a human form of the main character in VS
