Lol if Microsoft did put blu-ray into their consoles they would have to pay Sony for the blu-ray.

MS would be paying "Blu-Ray Disc Association"...

Sony doesn't own Blu-Ray

I love Blu ray but TBH I could care less if Microsoft went with it next gen. If they went with BD I would be ok with it, or if they went with some proprietary format (ala Nintendo) I would be ok with that too. I would rather use a player for movies than a console anyday.

I have a PS3 which is good enough for BD at the moment. By the time next gen comes around standalone players will be much cheaper and I'll probably retire the BD playback to one of those.

(Talking next gen here but...)

Why you would want to put wear and tear on a next-gen $300-$400 system when players will probably be sub-$100 is beyond me.

Completed X360:
High Def Movie Collection

Ps3 and bluray fans live on the defeat of the HD-dvd, but they are blind to the fact that it does not matter, blu-ray (unfortunately), won't have the same impact as DVD did over VHS, DVD made VHS completely obsolete, the same way that, Digital Distribution, i.e. netflix, xbox live, virtual console, shall make physical media obsolete, so PS3 fanboys, I'm sorry but BLU-ray won't be youe life line, and any HD crackjacks know that blu-ray is just part-time, Xbox live and netflix both offer 720p and 1080i, only a matter of time till 1080p, and whatever will come after 1080p.,............................was I harsh?.............no!!!!!!!!!

my signature went on strike, it's demanding 3% raise

More storage would be cool. As long as it's not hella expensive and has awesome games, I'd welcome it. The big thing is - if MS will stay with a similar, easier to design processor and motherboard. Blu Ray is just a medium - it offers great storage. By then, they'll be expand it to 100gb a disk.

The next Xbox with BR? Hmmm......doesn't really matter to me.

I rarely buy movies on physical media these days. I either rent the disc, DL them, or stream it over the internet.

You again,Magaman2 ? Aren`t you tired? Why can`t you let us enjoy our games and not care for Bluray? How many bought a ps2 to play dvd`s ? How many will buy a 360 to play dvd`s ? Not many, trust me.

Now,did you know Bluray is slow? Like so slow, developers duplicate game data and put it in enpty parts of the disc so that the laser doesn`t have to travel that much. That or just make you install data onto the ps3 hdd...like GB of data. When did a 360 game needed an install ? Why is that? Yeah,I know...Sony tricked you by the "blueray has more space and they can fit more stuff in it and make the game better" statement and I`m ok with that.

Remember that hd-dvd had a fantastic speed and 15 gb on a single layer was both great AND very cost effective, dvd factories could very easly adapt the dvd manufacture process to hd-dvd and costs were low, same goes for the good hd-dvd`s that were made compared to the bad ones...about 75-80% of the total hd-dvd made were good and ready to ship, compared to the bluray succes rate,so keep that in mind.

I`m sure your final argument will be image quality...I have listen to people in the industry who said that they can`t spot the dofference between bluray and hd-dvd even if we all know in our brain that bluray is better than hd-dvd. Why? Repeat that over and over and that info will be stuck in your brain. It`s called marketing. And blueray lost when a big studio went blueray exclusive after supporting both formats (they took the money from the people behind Bluray,it`s very easy) and from that everything went downhill for hd-dvd.

And don`t call me anything,I`m not interested in any format and I barely watch dvd`s. Remember that if the 360 whould have had bluray/hd-dvd we whould complain about the price and the sales of the 360 whould have been bad. Remember that without the cheap 360 on the market everyone whould have still payed a large sum of money for a ps3.

Remember...marketing rulez. It always had.

Blu-Ray is PS3 exclusive. X360 owners do not care for Blu-Ray. IMO: The cost of buying a 1080p HDTV, Blu-Ray player and buying all Blu-Ray movies is not worth it.
To get the best experience for a movie you go to the see cinema.

Weren't it unwiling to acknowledge Sony's format war victory, MS, as well as Nintendo, wouldn't be wrong to adopt BD on XB720, when it will be a lot cheaper and more widespread thanks also to the effort and losses beared by Sony to launch and push it.

Anyone who says buying a 1080p tv isnt worth it, has not gamed or watched a movie on one for a long period of time

I adopted blu-ray and HD DVD quickly... I bought quite a few HD DVD as their cost was substantially lower then blu-ray most of the time. But, still it was more costly then regular DVD so I had not purchased at the same pace as regular DVD.

I think at this point I am waiting for a majority of movies to become downloadable HD formats. You don't ever need to buy a movie, you can just stream or download them and watch when your interested. I know that many places are still absent a fast Internet connection... But, in my house I have the option and am really warming to the idea of not having physical media. I can't wait until all games are this way too (I like Steam).

Netflix says "HY"...and are soon introducing the "stream only" payment method...

Considering that the 360 not only supports Netflix, but they also added 1 million costumers to the service... I can say that streaming movies is a big competitor to bluray, and this is just what MS wanted in the first place...stike Sony`s movie format with minimum cost.

They have done just that, plus they are cashing in not only on the movies, but also on the Live subscriptions...very well done,MS...make a profit while the competition makes a loss... MS is smiling all the way to the bank.
