Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is Microsoft afraid of Killzone 2?? By Megaman2!!

It seems that Microsoft is terrified by all the hype surrounding Killzone 2 and try in every way to oppose his cards marred the best output.

First round

When a month ago during an episode of G4TV, sprang the first rumours on a release date for the long awaited shooter, microsoft anounced just after a few hours the awaited date of DLC exclusive Gta4 and surprisingly for the same date 17 February 2009.

Second round

On December 4 however Sony officially announced that the release date for Kilzone 2 will be February 27, Microsoft is responding three days later postponing Halo wars (expected March 3) at 26 February 2009 again.

Third round

Sony is pressing an agreement with Gamestop to give a demo at the source of the Pre Killzone in U.S. territory. The demo will be made available via a download code that will be sent February 3 via email. Sony January 6 states that, for the European market, the demo of Killzone will be released in the traditional way and presumably a few days later (February 5 is Thursday, the day for traditional updates PSN).

They spend only 48 hours and that's Microsoft's response. During the keynote of the CES (Consumer Electronic Show, not as an audience of specialists in the gaming ... but does the media), it confirms the date of release of Halo Wars and announced that February 5 will be released playable demo.

Coincidences? Nnnaaaaaah.

Microsoft should be very scared, since Killzone 2 appears to have gameplay which lives up to it's astounding visuals, and cannot be done on the 360.

Best console visuals without a sweat, promising gameplay, 32-player online, promised DLC, no install, and massive hype. I bet even Nintendo got a chill down their spine.

Killzone 2 will be the official mark of a tide changed in Sony's favor. Simply buying exclusive content will not be enough in 2009.

The reviewers seem to echo my opinion this is what they said:

"To put it short, this game makes "Gears of War 2" look like a high school attempt at gaming and that is a HUGE compliment!"

MEgamers

"When compared to all other console titles - while on PC Crysis remains only true competitor regarding graphics - Killzone 2 takes every of it's moment to justify it is the first true and pure Next-Gen title in every mean imaginable."

Well , Nintendo shiped a ton of Wii's on GTAIV's release... Does that mean it a conspiracy?

You're back !!!!!!!!!!!

The first Killzone sucked which means that even if its good it already has that stigma of being a sucky game. No hype will help thanks to all the hype from the first one. Your thread fails

What are you looking at, nerd?

I completely agree megaman2, that was some nice investigative work you did there. Good finds

I think MS are afraid it will be another haze so are giving Sony all the help they can by delaying the release of the superior halo.
After all how many more broken promises can Sony withstand.

While most developers would try to move its games away from "BIG" titles such as Killzone 2, MS decided to bury it!

I love it!

Actually looking at the releases for that week... I don't think any developer even tried to move out of KZ2 launch week... I don't think anyone cares.

It's called good, strategic marketing. Desperate yes, but good strategy.
