Not even Sega has squandered away their successes as quickly as Sony has.

QFT.

yet they still make ps3 exclusive games. Infact they make ps3 exclusive games that were recently announced ! and they continue to make ps3 exclusive games.

sega were never really number 1 either. (well for a year or so they might have been)

  1. It's the most expensive console on the market, $150 - $200 more than its rivals. Even if you believe the video game industry is "recession-proof" (it isn't), a tanking economy makes consumers more price-conscious.
  2. The PS3's big bonus is its ability to double as a Blu-Ray player. Too bad no one seems to care about hi-def DVDs. The differences between Blu-Ray and DVD are hard to see on a TV less than 50".
  3. The PS3 just doesn't have any must-have titles exclusive to the console. "LittleBigPlanet" has generated decent buzz but isn't a game-changer, and neither is Sony's new virtual world "Home."

"Tell yourself the PS3 has superior graphics if it makes you feel better, but a $400 console with a mediocre game library simply cannot compete against an Xbox 360 priced at $200 in this economy."

OUCH!!!

LMAO! , I didnt have an account on this but when I saw this bullsh*t I had to register to reply

1: People find it "hard" to see the difference with DVD/ Blu ray on less than 50"..... Well everyone who agrees with that eyes tested. I only have a 26" hd tv and the difference is huge...

2: Mediocre game library? wtf? like has already been said 90% are multiplatform and the others that arnt? umm Resistance1&2, LBP, MGS4 etc etc are mediocre?....DING wrong again.

3: Its expensive? yeah it is.. but you get more than other consoles out of it ...and your not restricted to xbox/wii only extras.

And no people dont try and argue "OMG NOOB" etc etc or anything similar....your wrong. now sit now *pat pat*.

I might sound like a fan boy but I do own all thr....well 2 gaming consoles ie PS3, xbox360 and then the Wii thing.

Look at your numbers flame. The 360 sold less this year in sep (350 '07 vs 528 '08) and virtually the same in oct (366 '07 vs 371 '08) and then only slightly better in November (770 '07 vs 836 '08)

In fact september through November sales are actually down around 100k 07 vs 08, this despite a 100 dollar price drop.

PS3 sales are about even from sep through nov with last year. Up about 100k in Sep and Oct vs down around 80k in Nov. Basically the PS3 is up 100k in sales over the last 3 months vs 07 while the 360 is down 100k in sales over the last three months vs 07. Do the math yourself, despite the big price drop the 360 is doing no better then last year (except maybe in the perception game).

As to the Wii, there has been a nearly 2 to 1 increase in sales with no price drop. Up 200k in sept, 300k in oct and 1 million in November to go from about 2 million in 3 months to about 3.5 million.

Nintendo is the ONLY console maker showing any significant growth (and without a price cut at that). Sony is more or less treading water (also without a price cut) posting only a modest gain. The 360, the only console WITH a price cut is actually thus far doing worse in 08 then it did in 07. This might change with december sales, but as it stands, the 360 is the only console behind last years numbers over the last few months.

For all of 08 thus far in NA (the 360s strong market) the PS3 has doubled last years sales, the Wii has doubled last years MUCH higher sales and the 360 has sales that are almost identical to last year.  From Jan through Nov the 360 is up a few percentage points at best.  Feel free to cherry pick one month out of 12, but the story is far from the "360 dominates!" one you want to tell.

Yeah it was called Halo 3.  It was a pretty big deal... and outside of like... Wii Sports, the biggest console seller this generation.

And Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.

CNN is maybe the most pro-MS website on internet !

(I think a lot of American reviewer/media are pro MS, they are trying to push their american product)

About the article :

PS3 expensive : YES
BR is shit : NO
BR not an amazing feature : YES
PS3 game library is shit : NO
PS3 game library mostly Xbox360 one : YES
PS3 game library as good as Xbox360 one : YES

Overall, CNN is CCRAPCRAP

The problem is CNN is a news channel. And people listen to news and will consider this fact. However I disagree with PS3 game library as good as 360 one. Metacritic differs in opinion from your comment to by some margin.

Saying you're not a fanboy is rather pointless if you close off with such a stupid remark.

This article might as well have been published by Microsoft. While it cites correct relevant sales figures it also has so much misinformation and bias it's ridiculous. Apparently objectivity isn't a part of their job over at cnn.

^this. i mean in this article they are not imparcial at all.

Just a thought, but have you ever wondered that what CNN have said is basically how the PS3 looks to the average consumer. At that price they see a console that does nothing more than the 360. And now with HD netflix, the average consumer is only going to agree more.

That sounds like a 360 fanboy, not CNN.

first CNN have always right, they never critized engagment in Irak

try to spell iraq next time.

First, there's languages other than english in the world. But being a smartass is especially pointless in this case, cause you're talking about the western spelling of an arab word (العراق), which can only be an approximation anyway...

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

Everyone knows Sony needs a price cut, even Sony knows that. Problem is it can't afford a price cut at the moment. Sony is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
