No, software bundled with the console or a controller should not count.

Calling Guitar Hero, Wii Fit or Mario Kart a "bundle" is laughable.

All three consoles have healthy attach rates and they all have very healthy software sales. The Wii does just as good as the PS3 if not slightly worse. I don't see how that's not moving software.

i was mostly talking about 1st party games (as it's obvious that Wii 3rd party support is minor)

only Halo3 managed to sell close to Nintendo 2008 games!!

I really don't think Wii Sports or Wii Play should be counted when comparing software sales. Wii Sports is bundled so even those who don't want it get it and Wii Play is bought for the controller. I am not saying we should ignore them altogether, just when comparing Wii/PS3/360. I bet without those two Wii would have lowest software sales and tie ratios of all 3 to be completely honest.

@NintendoMan - I completely agree. I also want to point out that I think the XBox360 moves an enormous amount of software. But people are not saying the XBox360 moves more software than the Wii (a true statement though a kind of dry thread title), they are saying that the Wii doesn't move software (a false but much more interactive thread.)

Wii Play has to be counted.

Anytime you have the option to go out and buy a game, you need to count it.

Okay, if so, just to be fair, we should ignore all the sales that the following games had when they were bundled : MGS4, Uncharted, LBP, Indiana Jones Lego version, Forza 2, Resistance, Halo, Perfect Dark for the xbox360, Motorstorm (the second game as well, since it will be eventually bundled), pro evolution soccer 2009, GTA4, Fallout 3 (it's bundled in England).

You're wrong (unless you think the PS3 doesn't sell software either).

This is from Nintendo's presentation and uses full NPD data. The link provides a lot of usefull information. As you can see the attach rate is remarkably good for a console that sells this fast. So actually the Wii sells loads of software.

You have to have some software out there for it to sell.

Count the number of releases in the past few months with a 75 or higher in metacritic for the 3 platforms. It will be clear that the only reason why the wii has sold less software, is because less quality software has been released for it.

The playing field is expected to be more balanced next year.  2010 will likely see it tipping in Wii's favor.
