Why do people keep saying it was preorders? Preorders are not sales. They can not be counted until the game is purchased.

And there is no way to determine if it was a good start for LBP until the second week is over.

LBP not huge confirmed. People made the same excuses about Racthet & Clank.

I'm not surprised, Sony fanboys overhyped it and now the low sales are going to be the target of trolling for months to come.

Did you miss the whole recall fiasco?  Or are you being sarcastic?  :S

And streets dates are only broken regularly in Europe.  In NA, at best you'll find a lone Toys R Us or Wal-mart breaking a street date on accident.

I did not.  But at the end of the day, it is clear that a large number of stores DID receive copies early and DID sell them.  Especially on Saturday.

That not withstanding, unless the game can double this weeks numbers next week, it will have failed to meet expectations.

And if it cannot triple this weeks numbers next week, it most certainly will NOT be HUGE!!!

Most people (or at list I) have claimed that the game will have excellent legs, and not necessarily a large opening week.

Well I guess we will see next week.

But I think what this thread is truly about is this.  A whole lot of PS3 fans have come to the realization that LBP, whilst no doubt and incredible game and an impending commercial success, will not be the PS3 uber-system selling HUGE title they had hoped.

 

 

I really would like to know how you trollers are coming up with these conclussions. Firstly just as every intelligent person in this thread(MakingMusic, CGI-Quality,etc) has said, The game is not officially released everywhere. I don't want to hear about the store down the street from your grandma is selling them nonesense as that does not change the fact that the HUGE majority of the world still does not have access to the game.

This thread's title, 1st week sales? Lets get to first day before we start talking about 1st week. The ones sold so far are probably from broken street date and the actual release numbers have yet to be given. Even if you want to count specific store release dates such as GStop which is 27th/28th/29th, the game has still not been out for a week which entails 7 days.

Some of you simply have no idea how hard it is to make a post without calling you stupid, ignorant or some other term to describe how some of you are acting.

Game was sold only to those who pre-ordered the game. This is what they were saying.

Gamestop in my area had the same situation. Only enough copies for those who pre-ordered.

These numbers are an unfortunate side effect of a botched launch, and are in no way indicative of the games quality...just like I predicted.
