The video series is pretty hard to sum up, but I'll try to get the key points.

* GameStop employees are rated on how many trade-ins, magazine subscriptions, and reservations they get, which encourages them to do anything to raise their numbers for those things
* The mark-ups on used products versus trade-in values are akin to a pawn shop's: they'll pay $25 for a traded in game which they then re-sell as used for $55
* GameStop knowingly buys stolen copies of video games to resell
* Employee benefits are basically nonexistent, and promotions are a joke
* If you're employed at GameStop, you're signed up for a debit card service that nobody accepts and that you have to pay outrageous fees just to withdraw money from
* Corners are cut everywhere to reduce expenses: customers frequently get roped into being the play-testers for traded-in games and systems

they only buy the stolen stuff when they are nearly out of that certain game or accessory. but most of the time i was told to turn down these people selling stolen stuff. also knowing that the stuff was stolen we could never prove it so if they raised hell we would have to buy it

Well, that was more of a "key points" list than a "fine details" list. And as he says in the videos, some of the information is probably not 100% accurate any longer.

Oh nothing, just that you've been selected to win a free Apple iPod Mini.

Eh there is better deals out there and there are better jobs but it's the one place that works with my college schedule and for my area minimum wage is the standard for some reason >_
The business does have nice benefits like cheap healthcare and such, and the only reason I wasn't promoted to assistant manager after a month of working there is because they know I'm in college and I may be transferring soon, my old boss even tried to convince me that it's a nice enough job to not go to college and become a manager >_> which ain't happening.

There is some serious things that need to be changed with the company and if some of those things he listed is real problems where he worked he should look into the legal issues with a lawyer, it could benefit consumers and employees alike.

ok, sorry, but if that guys talks a little more faster, he talks backwards.

Are Gamestops really this bad in the Yanks?

There's a single GS in my town, and I got there fairly often, but they have never, ever tried to get me to subscribe to, or reserve anything. I once bought a PS2 there (with their "bring in 5 old games to get 100€ off a new console"), and they asked if I wanted an extended warranty, but didn't ask twice when I said I wasn't interested.

Of course I'd never buy a new console game there, since there's a nice local store that has new games for 5-10€ cheaper, and usually a few days before the official release date. Also, games in Gamestop often have the manuals and such only in Swedish, which is a huge insult for us Finns. =P

Their saving graceto me is the very nice PC shelf with a surprisingly wide array of games at very reasonable prices. Heck, I found a brand spanking new copy of Psycho-motherfucking-nauts for just 10€, and their "buy 3, pay for 2" deal for PC games under 15€ is very nice.

Actually, I was surprised by how the guy says Gamestop ignores PC games, since the one near me devotes around a quarter of the store to PC games. Not that much compared to consoles in general, but still more than any single console. Of course this is in Europe, where PC gaming is supposedly much more popular.
