Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Fable 2 - Convince me.

First of all, Fable 1 was not a bad game! It just couldn't deliver everything that was hyped before. But still Fable was fun to play, it was not a masterpiece, but it was good.

Fable2 is hyped again but this time MS told Peter to shut up and not promising things that didn't make it in the game. So I guess and hope that this time, the game will be really great. There are many new great things such as tho online coop without any lobbys or something (shown at e3, so it will be in the game) the dog always at your side, the look of your character based on the way you played - evil or brave, to get married and to show your home your friends on Xbox Live etc. All these things sound pretty big.

Fable2 is a must have for me, even if it turns out to be like the first one, it is still worth it. And the new scans look so damn sexy.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

The difference between Fable 1 and 2 is that the first time around it was Peter Molyneaux who was promising stuff that didn't end up in the game. This time he has kept relatively quiet, and only talked about features he could demonstrate. This time around the majority of the hype is coming from people outside of Lionhead. The chance is still there for the hype bubble to burst, but it's extremely unlikely in this case

Fable 2 is going to be huge.

It's a large file (half a gig) but you should watch this 8 minute co-op demonstration from GCD. The game looks great in this video (and its from 8 months before the game's release date).

If your concerned about storyline catchup, dont be. The storylines of the two different games are not very intertwined (from what we know). Fable 2 IS set in the original world of Albion but it is some 500 years after the events of the first game.

Over at the Lionhead website there is a very interesting three part series called the "Tales of Albion" that gives a quick overview of the world's history. Only two parts have been released. From what I can tell part one represents what happened before (And to an extent during) the first Fable. The second part represents things that have happened BETWEEN the two games.

I didn't hear any of the hype for Fable before playing it, and I believe it was awesome.

Thanks a lot, that's very helpful. Gonna check that video out now, and probably read the Tales of Albion-stuff later. I'll post when I've watched the video.

Awesome mate. I think Fable 2 will be a good enough game to convince you of a purchase without our help.

Something I like about Fable (the first one anyway) is that it has a number of side quests, but not the excessive number you would find in a game like Oblivion. It blends Western tastes with SOME of the linearity of JRPG's, but it provides a great deal of choice within this linearity. In the first game this was largely characterized by the choice to be good or bad, but those decisions look like they will be far deeper and complex in Fable 2, with real consequences for many of the decisions you make.

I'm a big fan of the series, and will probably play through the game two or three times in the first few months I own it. But I think if a game warrants one 15+ hour playthrough that is highly enjoyable then it is worth getting. The beauty of this game is it will offer multiple playthroughs with thoroughly different experiences each time.

Not yet. Decided to download it, but for some reason my net is going really slow :/ At this rate, I might have to wait until tomorrow before I can watch it (It's 8:30PM here right now, and it's going at like 30kbps).

You don't need me to convince you. Fable 1 will do all the convincing.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I remember when my friend was playing Fable, he was taking the evil path and was slaughtering the village guards with these hellhounds of his. He was bragging that he didn't really have to do anything after he provoked the fight because the hounds automatically attack anything that they perceive as a threat. So when his wife starts yelling at him for killing the town guards, the Hellhounds tore her to pieces without my friend's consent, ending the longest relationship he was ever in. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.

"WHYYYYYY??? SHE WAS GOOD TO ME!!!"
