Awesome mate. I think Fable 2 will be a good enough game to convince you of a purchase without our help.
Something I like about Fable (the first one anyway) is that it has a number of side quests, but not the excessive number you would find in a game like Oblivion. It blends Western tastes with SOME of the linearity of JRPG's, but it provides a great deal of choice within this linearity. In the first game this was largely characterized by the choice to be good or bad, but those decisions look like they will be far deeper and complex in Fable 2, with real consequences for many of the decisions you make.
I'm a big fan of the series, and will probably play through the game two or three times in the first few months I own it. But I think if a game warrants one 15+ hour playthrough that is highly enjoyable then it is worth getting. The beauty of this game is it will offer multiple playthroughs with thoroughly different experiences each time.
