Forums - Sony Discussion - What made you buy your PS3?

Funnily enough because I'd got an HD TV. I was going to wait until prices dropped on both 360 and PS3 before comparing them but once I got the TV I just wanted some HD stuff to throw at it.

Looked at 360 vs PS3 and BR swayed me to PS3 while RROD pushed me away from 360.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

After HD-DVD was declared officially DEAD I got a PS3 because a 400$ Blu-Ray player with awesome games and a bunch of other functions really is a great deal!

Also, Wii doesn't cover everything this generation has to offer... So I felt I needed an HD-console!

So there ya go,... Oh, and PS3 is totally awesome! I really like the system! And my Wii too <3...

THE NETHERLANDS

I started to look into the PS3 due to the inclusion of the Cell processor. After some research I very much liked the default hardware specs including the choice for Blu-Ray disc and Sony's reputation of making the type of games I like to play.

So I decided to say goodbye to PC gaming and from then on near entirely depend on the PS3 for all my multimedia entertainment purposes on a big screen HDTV using wireless Playstation controllers.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Honestly, it started off like this: I'm a graphics whore, and it wasn't made by Microsoft.

Then I got into reading about the system and just liked the direction Sony was going with it. Expensive sure, but a damn fine machine.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

Price. It was cheaper for me to buy a ps3 (60gb euro model for £330 + 2 games) than get an x360 with the extras I needed (bigger HD, wireless connection). I would be completely satisfied if it had more local multi player games.

I tried a high bitrate 720p video on my XBOX (not 360) and it displayed like a very slow slideshow.
At that point, I knew I would need something for HD video's and the PS3 sounded perfect.

Now, having said that, the XBOX is excellent for DVD style video's, and I wasn't expecting the 2001 XBOX to handle a full blown 720p video well. But it got the ball rolling in my head.

I shelled out $600 without as much as a second thought for many reasons.

Backwards compatibility for all my PS2 RPG's. (Better now with upscaling) PS2 is still getting strong RPG's, also had the best of 2007. P3FES. :) I love this game right now!!

I am faithful to the Sony brand, they always start slow and always delivered the goods.

Final Fantasy XIII eventually... sigh...

Insomniac games, MLB The Show, plus many others.

It was the prettiest looking one. :)

My reasons may seem stupid to some, but I have yet to be disappointed by Sony thus far, besides the lack of RPG content right now. I feel for the RPG fans who have 40gigers. :(
