Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which highly rated games do you dislike and why?

Gran Turismo series- I don't know why, but I just find it boring.  I guess I prefer the 'zany' racing games like Mario Kart.

Resistance: Fall of Man- I played the first 10 or so chapters, and found it quite dull.  The aliens made the same movements every time, when I died the game would respawn me right where I died in an infinite loop, and it just felt like Call of Duty with different enemies to me.

And whoever said Square hasn't made a good RPG since FF7: Kingdom Hearts says hi, then kicks your ass.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

GTAIV - Having not been much of a fan of the series anyway, I wasn't that impressed with GTAIV. Like Bully, I would get pretty bored with having to go from place to place to do missions. The lock on and cover systems were nice when fighting at a distance, but encountering enemies (or just moving around) in smaller areas (especially inside buildings) was a chore and extremely frustrating.

Halo 2 and 3 - I enjoyed the first one and then the hype and Halo fans took off with their "Halo is better than sliced bread!" type of comments. I've never really seen the appeal, though online can be a blast (but there are many great online games as well).

Bioshock - It's not a bad game, but if there is one thing that's frustrated me the most when I play on my friend's console from time to time, it's how the game is playing out. It's nice if it's a long game and all, but the way the game presents events (there's your objective. But wait a second! Now it's blocked and you have to do a whole lot of crap to open the path again) only leads me to roll my eyes and let out a sigh.

Gears of War - Awesome cover system and graphics, but the story is rather lacking. It furthers the notion that apparently having macho guys with deep voices wearing bulky armor is the only way you can make your game appeal to mainstream Western audiences (or is that America?).

Games in which a woman's breast size is unrealistically large such as the Dead or Alive games or Soul Caliber (screenshots from 4 sport way over the top breasts). That isn't to say the game is good or bad, but come on.....  You can't make an interesting female character, so you have to make her breasts as big as a house to compensate?

Well yea, that's the whole point of this thread.... and pretty much any discussions in the first place.

Halo series - It's like Quake with better graphics. On a console. Which instantly makes aiming horrible. FPS on console = Bad idea. FPS selling over 6 million copies per game on console = Tragedy.

God of War - I've only played the first one, and I felt it seriously underwhelmed compared to other games of it's genre. Adding to it, it felt like they just copypasted DMC but with different characters and enviroments, and on top of it, Kratos is a massive hypocrite who makes me cry blood, and his design is copypasted from the Diablo II Barbarian.

Final Fantasy 7 - This game was alright. But it got revered as a technical masterpiece and a majestic marvel of a game, which it, quite frankly, is not. And I played it when it was new.

Guitar Hero series - These games are very mediocre, in my opinion. I find them mildly entertaining, but they are the epitome of rehash, and on top of it all, games like them have existed for over 10 years but suddenly it's like "OMG GUITAR PERIPHERALS LET'S BUY IT".

Gran Turismo (any) - the Codemasters racing franchises have been years ahead of GT since forever (car damage and challenging races).

Wow, i guess your entitled to your opinion, it just happens that this is the wrong opinion.

Like yeah you have a point with car damage. But what about the fact theres about 1000 cars in gran turismo 4? More to be in GT5, and I've heard rumours of damage coming to GT5. There wasn't in the prologue, but in full version there should be.

Plus its got the best graphics of any game IMO, better than Uncharted even in some aspects.

 Quantity beats quality?

You sound like Tomonobu Itagaki when he said DoA3 was better and more interactive then other fighting games because it had more trees you could slam your opponent into.

Ninja Gaiden - This game is LAME. I really dont see whats good about it, I guess Im just one of those people whod like to know what the fuck is going on and who the hell am I fighting, Playing Sigma I kinda just stopped when I noticed first I was fighting ninjas in ancient japan then Im fighting ninjas in the city (seriously, wheres the cops?) then Im fighting some fat guy on a blimp (wtf). Its just not for me.

donkey kong country series- because it just sucks
All Post Final Fantasy IX games- talk about boring
2d Mortal Kombat games-shallow shitty fighter
Gran Turismo 4- seriously that game is beyond boring

Mario Kart - Same Old Same Old

Super Mario Galaxy - Decent game but just seems like the mario franchise being milked as opposed to something new and original , i'm waiting for Mario Desert Adventure now.

Halo 3 - Didn't deserve anything above 7.5/10 but got alot more than that.

I think that's pretty much it.

I gotta say Gran Turismo, and add to the reson for hate the bad AI, wait no.... Terrible AI, bad was being too nice I guess. Lots of racing games suffer from the same problems like the "catch up" feature but I found it to be far worse in this series, the computer cars may as well stop when your behind it would give almost the same effect as what currently happens.
