guys we can argue till the end of the world but microsoft PR said 5 million lead in sold to customers globally and they have much more resources for that figures than you and me and VGC put together,,,there is no hiding that.and don't worry this 5 million is even as inflated as it  can be to make them look better

Just get over it. A harsh dose of reality is a shock but at least you are now on the same page as the rest of the gaming world and developers and publishers.

Vgchartz is either outright banned or forbidden to be mentioned on every major gaming site I know of because of the silly 360 numbers inflation and PS3 under reporting.

Fix the numbers. Drop the 360 fanboy games. Go legit and this site could be let into the online gaming community as a serious source of sales data.

So where does GFK fit in to this the third tracking firm mentioned? That's why it isn't NPD and Chart Track.

It's nonsensical to think he says "both" to refer to three companies.

Here's the paragraph again. Split up again so you can understand it better.

Today Xbox 360 has a 5-million-unit console sales lead on a global basis based on most recently public reported data from both companies.

This includes more than double the installed base in the US according to actual NPD sell-through and over a 1-million-unit lead across Europe also based on reported sell-through from Chart Track and GfK.

It's clear as day the second part isn't related to the first part as he has to clarify that each of the following numbers are sellthrough, yet does not say the 5 million number is sell through and that he says both companies in the first sentence and the following sentences mention three companies.

After reading this thread I have no clue what to think. Too much corporate BS. I'll let ioi sort it out, and I'll just wait for his update to the numbers if there needs to be one.

Honestly, did anyone actually believe this site was anything other than some twenty year old kid playing fanboy number games?

Did you honestly think some kid's website had the resources to do retail tracking for the worldwide global console market - something not even large for profit companies like NPD are able to do?

I think it is talking about the companies tracking Sony and MS not sony and MS data.

I say wait till official numbers come it.

Regardless of which numbers are correct, a 5-6 million sales lead isn't very impressive considering:

1)It had a year headstart with no other nextgen console to compete with.

2)The PS3 is "way to expensive" compared to 360.

3)It has all the AAA games and PS3 has "no good games"

4)GTA4 on 360 will have DLC "obviously making it the superior version" which will drive 360 console sales way up(funny how last week, PS3 outsold 360 by almost 100K and GTA4'a attach rate for both consoles was the same).

Actually considering all these(perceived) advantages the 360 has, it's sales lead is pretty sad. And with PS3 outselling it for weeks on end, that sales lead is going to diminish over time.


To top it off, when MGS4 and the MGS4 bundle releases, the 360 will be CRUSHED by the PS3 for a couple weeks, and yes you can quote me on that!

 December 2008 or so it will be gone.
