Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Metroid Prime Trilogy to be Released for Wii

From GoNintendo.com:

You guys know how I am with our GoNintendo Mole. I don’t hear from him too often, but when the mole gets in touch, I listen. This news is 100% rumor for now, but that doesn’t make it any less juicy.

Word has it that a certain retailer had a SKU pop up in their computer systems for a Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii. What could this title be? Well, I would expect it to be Prime 1, 3, and 3 all on the Wii…but Prime 1 and 2 with all-new Wiimote controls. I love Metroid, but I really don’t know if I would buy something like this. It would see a bit silly to pass it up, especially if you could get all 3 for $50.

I am going to try and do some SKU hunting when I hit up my local game retailers. We’ll see what pops up.

I would love it if this rumour came true, even though I own all three games already. Metroid Prime 1 and 2 would be much more fun with the IR pointer, even if weapon switching is a little more cumbersome. Also, my MP3 game disc got scratched when I lent it to a friend, so this would be a great excuse to get a new one.

I'd be happy if this were true, I borrowed Metroid Prime 1 from a friend after completing MP3, but i found it bothersome to revert to the old control scheme

I already own all three....and I will buy this if it is true.

I think it could also be a great way to bring the new Wii owners into the series.

Unfortunately, I think it will make a lot of people claim that the Wii is a port machine.

But who cares about them anyway, right?

Oh, i just felt i had a flashback (not the game) that made me feel so 2006.
Wasn't the remake of Metroid Primes announced by Nintendo already in 2006. Well, maybe the trilogy bundle is new news, but otherwise this has been expected.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

So if you return MP3 you get discount for the triology?

 Source, Link?

I don't think they had announced anything.  There's been plenty of rampant speculation by the fanboys, but I don't think Nintendo ever said anything about it.

It sounded fake but there's a link.

If 1/2 came on one disk together for 50$ i'd get it. Never did play them for GC. Add wifi multiplayed to Echo's and that'd be a perfect buy.

I'd forgotten that Echoes had a multiplayer mode. The controls made playing it very not-fun, but with IR...

This might be worth a pick up for that alone.

Wow, that would be nice, Since I've been wanting to own Metroid 1 & 2 since I missed those games on Gamecube

I'll try to find one when i have the time. But now that you mentioned, it could be that the announcement was about porting "certain games" instead of "Metroid Primes". I have to check it out.
