Yeah, I definitely don't see EA keeping the D20 combat if they do give us a KOTOR reboot. Turn based RPG's are largely a thing of the past now, outside of Japan, and even Japan moves further and further away from them these days. I would expect a reboot to have Mass Effect like 3rd person shooting for gun characters, and something very similar to Jedi Fallen Order for the melee vibroblade and eventual lightsaber combat, once you get to the Jedi Temple on Dantooine. Would like to see them implement some good Ebon Hawk space combat sections as well if possible.
Ya...I don't want that at all. I'd much rather they go the route of something like PoE2 where you can choose between real time with pause, or just straight up turn based.
I believe Bioware did that with Dragon Age: Inquisition, but barely anybody used the turn based mode, most played it as an action RPG. They might give options like that for Dragon Age 4 and the KOTOR reboot, but I would be surprised if they do since so few used it.
Of course, we don't even know if Bioware is doing this leaked KOTOR reboot, the leak didn't say. As far as we know, Bioware is busy working on Dragon Age 4, a revamp of Anthem, and probably the next SWTOR expansion, I don't know if they're large enough after laying off their Montreal studio in 2017 to work on all of that plus a KOTOR reboot that has to release before the Star Wars deal expires in mid 2023, so if the leak is true, it might be developed by a different EA studio. Could be the EA Vancouver Star Wars game that Jason Schreier leaked awhile back, but I have a feeling they are the ones doing that High Republic Star Wars game that was leaked to be part of the upcoming Project Luminous multimedia project. Respawn is supposedly working on a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order, Medal of Honor VR, plus something Titanfall related, (and of course ongoing Apex Legends support) so it won't be them. Criterion is doing the next Need For Speed, so it won't be them. EA just announced that they're moving Ghost Games away from development to become an engineering support studio, so it can't be them. Maybe EA Motive, they have yet to release a game. EA Montreal is a possibility as well.
