Trine 2 on Wii U

Ori and the blind forest.

I'm surprised more people didn't mention Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. It's easily the most beautiful 2D game imo.

It's not a hugely popular game.  So, fewer people have played it.  This is a good reminder to me to pick it up though.

Looks like Ori is the top seed.

Damn right; in purely artistic terms it's probably still the most beautiful game I've ever played, even though plenty of newer games that are also artistically lovely have long since eclipsed it technologically.

In just a few months, Trine 4 comes out; we'll see it if it can claim its ancestor's crown.

In terms of pure 2D fighting games, it has to go to King of Fighters Xiii.

Id say Ori and the Blind Forest. Also the sequel looks set to push the bar even more.

Fingers crossed - Trine 4 is a day 1 purchase for me....

I'm still trying to get the Trine 1-3 physical version for Switch which comes out at the end of this month in the US but it's proving difficult to pre order. Even though I have Trine 1&2 on Wii U I'd be happy to double dip for that physical Switch release.....

Yeah I'm grabbing Trine 4 day 1 also.

The difficulties you're having with the Trilogy pack are probably cos the team isn't quite finished porting Trine 3 yet; it's proving more difficult than the first two as it was made for 2015 PCs and PS4 while the first two were made for PS3/360 and PCs of 2010-2012. As of two days ago Frozenbyte tweeted that they don't have a solid release date yet as a result, but are "working hard to make it happen as soon as possible. Stay tuned".
