PS5>XB4>NS units sold next gen

Forums - Sales Discussion - PS5>XB4>NS units sold next gen

Why you ask?

Its quite simple really as seen in the interview the PS5 is build to be futureproof and has a solid predecessor in the PS4.

The XB4 in the other corner, is rumored to be weaker and doesnt have the same library and most games will be playable on pc anyway. Besides how strong will the brand be after the flipflop known as the XBO.

And then we have the NS a great console but so far behind the curve most tvs wont cater to its resolution in a few years. Doubtfull if even the NSpro will handle stable 1440p/60fps. And ofcourse half its sales have been made in the current gen.

Thus my expectation for next gen which will result saleswise in the order Ps5>xb4>nsw

PS4/NS > XB4

If Sony does everything right and if the PS5 has a long enough lifetime, it should be able to outsell the NS, but it's not certain that that will happen. XB4 won't do significantly better than XOne, unless it has a clear advantage over the PS5.

Also, the majority of the broad public doesn't care much for resolution, so that should be too much of an issue for the NS.

1) Flip floppy arguments. If people are deliberately using the "Switch has no impact on PS4 sales", then it is clear the PS5 won't have much impact on Switch sales either.

2) 4k TV adoptions have been slower than the HD era thus it is still easy to think most people will still be using 1080p screens for another good decade. Not even mentionning that there's been diminishing return with the upping in resolution the further we've gotten. It ain't the best argument to use especially when mid-gen upgrade are already able to do the same job fine.

3) I'm expecting Xboxwhatever to go on a steady decline so it might take advantage in the US but I'm not expecting much success in the Worldwide market.

A gift to a special someone ...

I think the Switch (officially Gen 8) will sell somewhere in the 90-100M range. Its fortunes will not be impacted by the arrival of the PS5 & Xbox 4.

The PS5 and Xbox 4 will, assuming neither Sony nor MS bungle anything major, do about even in the U.S., while the gap in Europe will be a bit closer, and Japan will remain about the same. I think this would translate to around 100M for the PS5 and 70M for the Xbox 4, barring any emerging markets starting to adopt consoles en masse. I guess we'll have to wait until the consoles are officially and fully unveiled to make any other guesses.

Are you really going to separate Switch sales by proportion sold during this generation and the next generation?  That's rather silly as it makes any sales comparison pointless.

The rest of your arguments are almost equally odd.

xbox is never going to sell well in Europe or Japan, and that will keep it in third place. And how many Switches will have been sold by the time the two consoles are released, 50 million? If PS5 passes Switch it will be a while

Where are you getting the rumor that Xbox will be weaker from. Leaks point to 2 different next-gen Xbox, codenamed Lockhart and Anaconda. Lockhart is said to be weaker than PS5 (but also cheaper), while Anaconda is said to be more powerful than PS5 (though possibly more expensive).

Fair enough. I think the potential exists for exactly the opposite.

But, it really doesn't matter.

Switch will sell better than xbox.

Prediction: In 5 years Nintendo will Lauch a "Core Mario game"  very similar to Astro Bot. That said, many will Ignore Astro Bot existence and say Nintendo created this concept.

XB > NSW? Really? It would have to be the best selling Xbox console of all time, and make up for the fact it has no market in Japan on top of that, which in Nintendo's case is 20+ million.
