Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else find "bad frame pacing" totally unnoticeable?

To be honest you probably don't know what screen tearing is if you "need a computer to tell you" ...

Sush young'un, You probably weren't knee high when Assassins creed released, go play that on a 7th gen year one console from a day one disk and get yourself a lesson in screen tearing.

To be honest, I don't need to have "been there". Playing old games on PC with modern hardware often causes tons of screen tearing. Halo 2 Vista on Windows 10 is enough experience (though I can't remember if it was that game specifically but i'm pretty sure it was)

It's all about what you're used to. I've played at 144fps for years now and I can tell you that I'm able to see stutter even in otherwise smooth 60fps.

Learn from my mistakes kids, never consume anything above 30fps and you will never have any issues with framerate.

Does not compute, unless you are superhuman?

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Your brain is a powerful tool. If it's used to something, any slight deviation will be immediately noticeable.

I can see when a game's framerate drops by multiple fps, like if a 30fps game falls to 27fps it's very perceptible, and the difference between 30 and 60 is night and day to me, but the 1fps variances of frame pacing are just too small for me to detect I guess.

I have noticed it before, I didn't have a term for it before I heard about it on Digital Foundry though. Some games that I noticed it in immediately were FFXV, the Spyro remakes and Kingdom Hearts 3. I can get used to it of course but if a game has to be at 30fps, I'd really prefer it to be the best 30fps possible.
