Nintendo's paid online service continues to disappoint

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's paid online service continues to disappoint

Up until now Nintendo has been keeping us in the dark about which NES games would launch for the Switch's NES app in 2019, after what seemed like a consistent schedule for 2018. But they have just dropped the ball by announcing just 2 more games that will be added to the service for January, these being Blaster Master and Zelda II.

Fans are rightfully upset that not only are the number of games to expect each month has been halved only several months in, but this month's games are a snooze fest. Personally, I have never heard of Blaster Master, and have no interest in Zelda II since it is widely considered to be the worst Zelda game. If anything this just reinforces the mentality that Nintendo is putting in the bare minimum effort to improve the quality of their service. At least when the service began there was hope for it to get better, but it seems Nintendo is going in the wrong direction.

Only 2 games, god this service is looking worse and worse as we go throughout the months. Seriously, all Nintendo could get running in a month time was 2 games. I hope they move on to other systems soon. This is whole thing feels like a joke.

Seriously, Nintendo?
What about Mario 2 USA & Lost Levels?
Tetris?
Kirby's Adventure?
The original Kid Icarus?
Why don't you call Capcom, Konami, and Square Enix to get the Mega Man games? Castlevania? The OG Final Fantasies?

Or if you REALLY wanted to sell this Online service, why don't you bring out the Super Nintendo library? You're discontinuing the classic consoles anyways. Might as well put all those games (and some more) onto the online service. (And also hold up a giant middle finger with the words "Fuck You!" painted down the finger to scalpers in the process.)

This service has so much potential, but you guys constantly keep dropping the ball and it's so damn frustrating!

Can't be disappointed if you've never bothered with the offerings in the first place.

Don't know of this Blaster Master game but Blaster Master Zero is awesome! I highly recommend it!

yeah that is pretty lame... hopefully Feb is better

Keep in mind this is a service which costs €1.60 per month, exactly how many SNES classic titles were you guys thinking they would bring each month? At 80c per nes title on top of online play in some amazing games I would wager people who use this service aren't feeling too ripped off by it.

It costs in line with a KFC visit for a years sub lol.

Fancy hearing me on an amateur podcast with friends gushing over one of my favourite games? https://youtu.be/1I7JfMMxhf8

Those virtual old games are pointless anyway.

I mean we all played them on a NES, Emulators, Wii, Wii U, Nest Mini (hack it and put all the games on).

Isn't the $20 a year meant to improve online gaming experience to ensure less lag? I don't know i don't bother with online these days lol.

Love how every single time people defend Nintendo Switch Online is because "oh but it's cheap" as if that put it beyond criticism.

Personally, I'm paying about $4 a year and why yes I do feel ripped off, because this service isn't worth a penny and I'm being forced to pay to play P2P online that is barely an improvement over the Wii U, if at all. Still no servers, still no messaging, still wondering what those "special offers" even are. The only thing this "service" has going for it are the NES games, and even on that front it's a massive disappointment. No price excuses it.

Two games for January? ..... Gosh, that´s really dissapointing. And they took very long to update it, compared to what they did last year.

I just hope that they´re working on something extra to give more value to the service, after so much deserved backlash.

It feel even worse for consumers, knowing that they really don´t need to do much. If there were also a good amount of SNES and N64 games being released regularly, people would not feel dissapointed.
