I don’t get the whole “but Trump is President” reply every time the left’s rhetoric is brought up. Pls explain.

The left in general, see's power and authority on (almost) a religious level. Where righties generally look to the word of God, or their priests, the left (who also can look to God) looks to people like the President or individuals at the top pf their class, whether it be Hollywood stars, or media journalists, etc.

That's why you see the freak outs about Trump, or Roseanne, or Kanye, or Megyn Kelly. That's why there was a much bigger push from the media and Hollywood to promote Hillary, compared to a weak Hollywood/media push for Trump. Righties don't really care about power and spotlight as much, they mostly only care about what it can do for them, where as the left looks at it in awe and as inspiration, as well as what it can do for them.

Since the left believes so strongly in authority, trickle down is a big thing for them when it comes to everything. They assume if Trump, at the top of the pyramid, is acting like a 'lunatic', then it stands to reason that it will lead to everything below him becoming destabilized. Which gives the political lefties, and/or righties, a bit of a pass when they say crazy things too, because it's naturally trickling down to them from above, based on their viewpoint.

The left views the pyramid in an upside down fashion. They think the capstone is the most important, and that everything below is heavily impacted by it. The right understand that the capstone can only remain seated and intact in it's position, as long as all of the individual stones below hold their fair share of the burden. If the capstone falls apart on it's own, you just end up with a few chips out of some of the stones below, and an "ugly" slightly imperfect pyramid. That capstone can be repaired or replaced fairly easily however. Now If the stones below become too unstable, the capstone doesn't stand a chance on it's own, and you end up with a heap of rocks resembling nothing. The left looks at things from a top down perspective, and the right look at things from the bottom up.

The main reason you see the right coming in droves to Trump rallies, and why they seem so passionate about him, is because they see that for the first time in a long time, that a 'political' candidate understands this. That if America keeps going down a road where the Country is run from a top down political perspective, the Country will slowly eat away at itself until it crumbles. The capstone can twist and turn and degrade all it wants for the most part, to a certain degree, and the rest of the pyramid couldn't care less, as long as it's receiving the care it needs to support the entire structure.

You can't bring in too many new blocks while focusing mostly on new pyramids, if you know the blocks supporting the Great Pyramid are falling apart. If you lose the main draw, you might as well not have even bothered in the first place.

If we can keep the contry from going down a path of nationalism and killing everyone else, we will be fine thank you very much.  You are whats crumbling the country by pretending that one half has all the answers and the other half is wrong.  Trickledown economics is the right so your analogy is bogus and ill informed.  This has been done before.  Stop thinking that one side has all of the answers and that the other side needs to follow (or else you will bust in our church or send them a bomb.)  No, that isn't helpful.  If the right had all of the answers they wouldn't be committing and then deflecting these kinds of behaviors.  The left is has its nutjobs too so guess what, you are still no better or worse than anyone else.

The silent majority will start to reign in the craziness on November 6th.

A random person? Obviously not. But that’s not what my question is about however.

Check a few posts above as I’ve had a discussion about exactly this already.

Thank you.  This means you recognize the breadth of influence different people have.  And nobody has more influence than the leader of the free world.

Depends on what you mean by “influence” or who is being influenced and what words were used, etc., ppl are more nuanced than that.

I already covered this like the past 2 pages and so on. Would be great if you just read what I typed back then and pick where you disagree rather than having me disccuss the same things all over again.

Edit. And that’s not what my question was about. Just because X may have more influence all considering doesn’t mean Y’s influene is irrelevant, especially when there is comparable infuence given different conditions.

Here is why this defense against Trump from people who support him doesn't work.  When you thrown in Maxine Waters into the mix and then post a message like this you are not defending Trump, you are actually proving everyone right.  So if Maxine was wrong in what she said and used her influence to cause violence then does this not make Trump just as guilty if not worst.  In other words, you are willing to condemn one but absolve the other instead of condemning both.  This is why siding with a political party or a person without admitting to their flaws make it seems you are radicalize.  They both should be condemned for their words and their actions.

You pretty much say in your post what my point was. If you are going to condemn Trump's rhetoric then you need to condemn Waters'. But as far as i am concerned people are responsible for their own actions. That someone lacks impulse-control is on them, no one else

Yes, we all are responsible for our own actions but leaders are in a place and position to influence others.  Its the reason we appoint people to position of power because we trust their judgement in our place.  It's irresponsible for any leader to abuse their power and be careless of their words.  The problem with Trump is that he wants to be president but doesn't want to act like one.  Many people have told him he isn't TV entertainer anymore so he has to be way more careful with his words and speech because it has more impact.  Just tweeting things before going through the proper channels is a case in point.  Another one was when he was about to tweet something but people told him not to because it could be considered an act of war because the perception it raises.  This kind of stupidity is what so dangerous about Trump.

Also just to set the record straight, CNN and other sites did condemn Maxine for her comments.  Not only that but all the top Dems also condemned her for her comments.  What you will not find is a lot of Republicans condemning Trump for his comments.  I guess that is the difference we see from both parties.  It appears Republicans are willing to roll with Trump divisive ways while the Dems are not willing to do the same for their own party.

If you want to immediately cause divide, then this is more so the reason for the hostility towards both sides. I made a point, which covered just a few things, in general, and you somehow took that to mean the right is always perfect and can do no wrong? For all the times the left uses their opponents exact words against them, for some reason you are reading so deep between the lines you've ended up in Wonderland.

Stop thinking every time someone agree's with a few things on the right, that it means they are a full blown, far right Conservative. Most people are not politically 'black or white', they are a mixture in different variations. You should also be taking the criticism in a much more constructive manner. I didn't do it to bash the left, I just pointed out a very generalized truth, so hopefully a resolution can be found using those truths. It's not just science that requires many truths to form a proper conclusion.

You don't think there are differing expectations between the president of the united states and Snoop?

The President is just a human being like everyone else. And no, I'm not excusing Trump for his dumb moments. However, NOBODY should be excused as well just because he holds a more insignificant role. If you're painting the spot for Presidency as something that is for an untainted divine figure then better look for something out of this world.

if your definition for an "untainted divine figure" is someone that hasn't publicly advocated for political violence I think there are a lot of angelic politicians out there. There are many gradations between Trump and perfect. Somewhere in the middle there is what I'd want for president. Largely just someone who isn't demonstrably an idiot and who at least appears to care about what is true or not.

...

As I expected from President Trump when it was said that the things he say could lead to violence what does he do, he double downs. So now we have and ad from the President that links an illegal immigrant killing police in the US with the President putting the blame on Democrats.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/ct-trump-immigration-ad-20181101-story.html

Trump and his team are really pulling out all the stops on the fear.  So we have the birthright citizenship appetizer and now we have the main course in this ad.  I wonder what the desert course will be next.  We still some more days before the election so it should be interesting what else they have in their hat.

Now you have to love this. Nov 1, Trump makes a statement that if rocks are thrown at the boarder he is willing to give the OK to use deadly force from the military. Now, I am hoping Trump generals has clued him on rules of engagement since this would be considered murder but who knows. The crazy part would be after Trump words, if a solider were to fire on the caravan, I wonder would it cause an international incident. The ironic part is that he got full support for his statement from the Nigerian Army after they fired on protesters. The Nigerian Army tweeted their response and Trump support in response to a US diplomat who called for piece between Nigerian army and the protesters. I guess its hard to ask for piece when your own president is making claims to do the same.

I know Mathis probably thinking, "Please Mr. President shut up you are making me look very bad".

Even so, this is probably another dog whistle since having the military do combat on US soil goes against the constitution and probably would make even the staunchest GOP member blink at such stupidity.

Even more interesting is another problem sending military troops to the boarder. It appears that Extremist militia groups acting as citizen patrols have been stealing military hardware from the Troops sent to the boarder. With Trump promising to send 15K more, I wonder how many more military equipment will find their way into these extremist hands before a single migrant reach the boarder.
