Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Korean Wii Launch Predictions

Predict how many Wiis will be sold during launch week in South Korea.

South Korea Population: 49 million

Japan Population: 127 million

U.S. Population: 303 million

Japan Launch Sales: 362,000

U.S. Launch Sales: 530,000

My guess is around 100,000 Wiis are sold in Korea in the first week.

don't know anything about Korean market or their gaming habit other than the fact a lot of them seem to like StarCraft.

That is about it.

Wait...so you're telling me the North Koreans who already have the nukes now have the wii? They will probably figure out how to control those nuke with a Wii mote...and then we're screwed...

I'd go 30-40k. ioi and I were talking about this earlier...DS started very slowly...but Nintendo Korea has more capacity to advertise etc. now that DS was a hit.

I think 130k is realistic for the first four weeks since the videogame market isn't as developed... and most ensuing months will be 75-125k.

Also, doubt it will launch in North Korea...but you never know which is why I gave N. Korea stats...the thing about North Korea though is that GDP per capita is $1500/year so its not like its got millions more middle class people.
