45-50m.

The thing is that, unlike X360, that still had legs once the XOne came out, I don't expect the One to survive long after the next Xbox gets announced.

It wont make it to 50 million. Should tap out at 45-48 mil

It may become difficult to count if there are no more generations for the Xbox, and the next Xbox consoles and the current Xbox consoles are all forward and backwards compatible. Future Xbox consoles may just end up getting counted with current ones without a separation in sales numbers for both hardware and software. Someone playing Halo 6 online on The Xbox 4 will be able to play with someone on an Xbox One.

We could see a scenario where the Xbox One X is the low end version, an "Xbox 4 Basic" a mid range option and an "Xbox 4 Pro" a high end version for most of the next decade. The current Xbox One versions would probably be slowly phased out.

1) Even if the "xbox one x", is forwards compatabile to play "Xbox 2" games... it probably wont be able to play Xbox 3 games, or Xbox 4 games.
2) Xbox 4 is along way away.... by then no one will have a xbox one x, playing online, the same games as the xbox 4.

Thats just silly imo.
People are really buying into this hook, line and sinker.
(instead of useing abit of critical thinking)

Xbox 4 was referring to the 4th generation Xbox, not 4 xbox generations from now.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

About 50m, maybe a little less or a little more. I can't see them doing much better than that since they have basically given up on making first party games. Every first party game shown at E3 will be for the Next Box. Don't expect any more first party games for the XB1 except for maybe Forza.

Still... lets assume 2020 for xbox 2, and then it last another 8 years, before the xb3, and another 8 for xb4.
You expect someone in 2036+ to be useing a Xbox One X to play then modern day games?

Common, cut the crap.... your way overblowing this Forewards and backwards thingy.... at most its likely to be 1 gen it applies too.
By the time a Xbox 3 is out, you wont be able to play those games on a Xbox One X from today (imo), much less the Xbox 4.

You're still misunderstanding what he is saying. He is referring to Xbox Scarlett, the 9th gen Xbox that is releasing in 2020 according to rumors, as Xbox 4, because it is the 4th Xbox console (1- OG Xbox, 2- Xbox 360, 3- Xbox One, 4. Xbox Scarlett). What he is saying is that MS might rebrand Xbox One X as a budget console for next gen, something that Phil Spencer himself has hinted is a possibility, which would blur the lines between generations.

Oh in that sense I agree.
I think thats what will happend, MS will make games that are able to also be run (but cut back) on the xbox one x, while playing/looking better on the Xbox Two.

I thought he was talking about like 18 years from now, the xbox one x would still be relevant, because console gens are dead, and it ll all be forewards/backwards compat.
That was the point I was makeing, thats most likely just bullcrap from MS.

Id be hugely surprised if it extendes more than 1 generation (forewards compat), so by the time the xbox that comes after the scarlet, comes out, the xbox one x (from today) is still relevant (Which I dont think it will be by then).

45-50 mil TBH. They lack compelling exclusives and the X1X hype has died down, so unless you ONLY play multiplats there is really no reason to buy one over the PS4. I also believe the Switch will pass the X1 in sales by the end of the next fiscal year, seeing how 2019 is going to likely be jam packed with games like Bayo 3, Prime 4, Fire Emblem, and next gen Pokemon. This is coming right off of Smash and a Pokemon yellow reimagining as well, so despit the slower start to this year, things should really ramp up soon on the Nintendo front.

I see the X1 as the clear weakest link in the big theee right now, and little can be said for how they are fixing the issue. They are adding nice features and services, but the lack of exclusive titles that can be considered must plays leave much to be desired. I will be suprised if it ever breaks 50 mil before the next box comes out...if at all.

How about a bet. I'm certain it will cross 50m.

Actually, the X+pubg+gamepass triggered a good improvement, and it's up yoy by a good margin because of that, especially in the US.

I think 50M is pretty much a given at this point. XBox sold 7.6M in 2017 and 2018 are improved so far. Not saying it will sell 10M over the year, but 13M over the course of two years seem possible.
