Nope. Not too many quality rpgs this gen and even fewer jrpgs.

Didn't we just get Xenoblade Chronicles 2, PErsona 5, and Ni No Kuni 2 since the beginning of last year with Octopath Traveller next month?

That's just the super high quality ones; what about stuff like Tales of Besperia and other mid-range JRPGs? What about Final Fantasy XV?

When I can buy one copy of my game, or subscribe to one service, and have access across Home, Mobile, VR, and AR, then I will say we have entered a golden age in gaming. Right now we are marching towards that, and it is very exciting. Sony has the Home and VR, Microsoft One Copy Across Multiple Devices, and Nintendo is offering one purchase for Home and Mobile. Next gen should see them all combine these practices to make three extremely consumer friendly ecosystems, that allow us to play where we want, when we want, and how we want. That is the start of a golden age for gaming, where we can all play the way we want, the market will see another nice expansion w ith very happy consumers.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

This again?

I could swear someone did this not so long ago. Do people really wish they would be in a golden era? When most games are either FPS or open world? No, this is far from the golden era. That era was when the Saturn/PS1/N64 launched. There was a plethora of new experiences and genres with the advent of 3D (way more quantity aswell). That was the golden age of gaming. There were fresh experiences being born all the time. Nowadays we are in an old and tired market that refuses to innovate and diversify. I'm sorry if you missed it, but it is what it is.

I'll give you Persona 5 for sure.  Playing No no Kuni 2 right now and so far I'm not convinced it's great but I'm not too far in so that may change.  I don't have a Switch so XC2 could be great.  Personally, I wouldn't call any of the other ones quality.  I'll throw in Nier: Automata and that makes four quality jrpgs with the generation supposedly winding down.  Only one of them is turn based.  For me, four jrpgs pales in comparison to last gen.

I would love for there to be more, trust me.

That's when we get to the bad jrpgs, except Undertale, that should be switched with XC2.

I'm going to have to disagree. The golden age of gaming in my opinion is between 1995-2010. I don't think there's enough variation in the games that are being released today. During the ps2 era, there were so many games coming out that you couldn't even choose what to buy.

Let's face it, ^this. You had 4 consoles (Gamecube, Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2) and 2 handhelds (PSP, GBA). There were literally so many titles you had no clue what to get, and the line between AAA and budget in games were a lot less apparent then. Now we have 3 consoles, and can barely keep that sustained.

I don't know about "golden age", but this generation has been a lot of fun and has rekindled some of the interest I lost in gaming during the PSWii60 era. I own a PS4 and a Switch, and I'm really enjoying the Switch right now. As long as I disregard EA, Activision, and Ubisoft, things are quite good on the gaming front right now.

I wouldn't say so.

Shady business practices have fucked up great games, looking at you EA. And so many promising titles have been cancelled due to corporate bullshit.
