Let's face it, ^this. You had 4 consoles (Gamecube, Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2) and 2 handhelds (PSP, GBA). There were literally so many titles you had no clue what to get, and the line between AAA and budget in games were a lot less apparent then. Now we have 3 consoles, and can barely keep that sustained.
