Overall Bloodborne is the better game. If you haven't played any Souls Games they are both going to be very difficult at the start. With that in mind there is less shit to worry about in bloodborne, the story is much more appealing, the atmosphere draws you in, and once you get over that hump called father gascoigne and blood starved beast everything will click and you will breeze through most of the game with only a few exceptions. For bloodborne just remember to not be afraid and be aggressive with your dodging. Use the lock on feature until you get used to the combat and start with the saw cleaver or the axe weapon.

Just pick DS1. Don't approach the series with that mindset because if its your first time playing it then its going to beat your ass anyways. You will adapt eventually, and when you do you'll appreciate the game even more.

Tough choice as I love both games almost equally. But If I must give an edge to one over the other, I'd choose Bloodborne.

As for the newbie, I'd tell him/her that if he/she is going to jump into a Souls game, don't do it if it's easy/casual gaming that you are after. Getting into a Souls game means you love challenge and hardships done in a quality oriented way (as only us hard-core gamers appreciate) One way to do it as I did it is chronologically. Start with Demon's Souls, then Dark Souls Remaster (it's available so why not) then Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, Bloodborne and finally Dark Souls 3.

Interesting.  I started with Demon's Souls and after that the games mostly seemed the same to me as far as accessibility goes.  I did remember liking the first Dark Souls the best though, simply because it had the most interesting areas IMO.  Maybe you are right though that it is easier to play Dark Souls 3 first and then go back to Dark Souls 1.

Start with Bloodborne.
Learn the game well on a two handed weapon.
Switch over to Dark Souls 3 and go straight for great swords or ultra great swords.
Have the time of your life.
The end.

Or, alternatively, find a friend and do coop with them. Then it won't matter if you're a noob or not.

Or this, yeah. Dark Souls is a breeze co op, but Bloodborne is still a bit of a challenge. 

Dark Souls Remaster if you've never tried the game is the right awnser.
Actually I would recommend Demon to start but it's only on Ps3.

People keep saying DS1 but it's the hardest game in the series it might put a beginner off especially as the structure is less straight forward than the other games.

Me and a buddy did Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 back to back coop and I think we've died a whole lot more in Dark Souls than in Bloodborne. We're both veterans of the Souls game, but even so.
I'd say Bloodborne is a lot easier in coop if there are two people doing heavy weapons. From there it's just a matter of stun lock.

The difference in difficulty between all of the games is tiny. They're all more or less the same difficulty.
