Yeah, no. I have read the same things you have but if you believe the finished DMC1 was EXACTLY the same thing we were going to get with the original RE4, you're crazy. They kept the engine and some assets, but that was about it. DMC plays nothing like RE.

Well, as I recall, Jade Empire 2 was said to be in development for a brief period before never being heard from again. Definitely wish that would have moved forward

It was supposed to be a sequel to Fusion and released on the DS, it was actually never officially confirmed but i've heard it was pulled from E32005 last minute

I was just having some fun because I know that if it was kept as Resident Evil 4 the final product would have been very different from Devil May Cry but it did originate as a prototype for Resident Evil 4 since they had a desire to change the formula, they went too far with that prototype and ended up making a new IP out of it. In the end, it worked out great since we got one of the best games ever (RE4) and a top notch new IP.

Right? That would have been so sweet. The 64 was also in desperate need of JRPGS, this would have fit the bill for sure.
