Well deserved flop

I think there is a lot of tension between production head and the creative unit who is being forced to work on a deadline. The replacement of director midway across the spin-off Rogue One following episode 7, Colin from episode 9 and then this was taken on a serious note by many fans. I guess part of the problem lies with some of the key decisions that are being taken by Kathleen Kennedy in an arrogant manner. I was already put off by how a movie like TLJ(not a good movie personally) was being eulogized despite audience not favoring it. Even the director himself stepped in adding  more insult to the injury. Colin Trevorrow was also fired. This guy who has been responsible for 2015's immensely successful JW had creative differences too. So roping back JJ in isn't exactly the wisest of the decisions for Disney. There are a lot of detractors already for JJ's TFA.

Kathleen Kennedy has a big ego.  That's why she hires these newer directors, instead of older ones who have been in the business longer.  The younger ones are more likely to bend to her will, while the older ones are more likely to have a vision of their own.  That's why Rian was allowed full control over TLJ and why he got a trilogy without them even seeing the disappointing BO, he agrees with KK and he is easily controlled.

I want to watch it, but it's exam season, so I can't see it in theather.
It'll do ok, because it's Star Wars. TLJ did nothing to damage Star Wars, that's just a fiction of the vocal minority.

This is the exact problem with majority of the TLJ supporters. "Vocal Minority" The problem is very clear here. You are just misrepresenting the chunk of audience who watched it actually, in your own way. TLJ's poor audience reception(more than 50 percent) coupled with another SW movie too soon actually brought fatigue leaving less demand for viewers.  A Han Solo reboot now was not perfect timing for studio. Disney realized it albeit in a way through the lukewarm response from BO receipts despite better reviews. Even JL fared better with poor reviews. This is a SW movie that won't even hit half a billion over a 250 million dollar budget, leaving a major dent for  the studio. A sequel plan might need a careful consideration now.

This.  TLJ, a movie that told fans to forget the OG trilogy, kill it if they had to, was then followed up by a mediocre Solo film that tries to get by on nostalgia.  It's a very mixed message.  And the quality of the films led to any kind of fatigue there may be.  If anyone thinks that if TLJ was well received and Solo was a really good film, that it would still be flopping, then they are fooling themselves.

That is why he named him.  But, that was just his last name.  There wasn't some weak explanation about how he got it.  And like I said, in the OG trilogy, no one made a face or comment about it, meaning it was a pretty normal last name in that galaxy.  Them having a recruiter give it to him, meaning it wasn't just a normal last name, and using the word solo (which I don't think has been used in the franchise, except when to refer to Han's last name), takes it out of that galaxy and into ours.  Same goes for the politics they put into the last two films.  Hell, Rian Johnson even thought it would be an awesome reveal to have the camera move over some near the end of Ep 9 and we find out it is current day USA while the events of Ep 9 was happening.  They are taking it out of the "a long time ago and in a galaxy far, far away."

I didnt go see TLJ because people were saying its a piece of shit that has all the SJW messages across from it. Rian Johnson should keep his hands off of this franchise but the guy is getting another trilogy. In all intent of it I liked this movie I guess having a problem with how he got his name is fair criticism I just thought it was a super fucking boring way to reveal that he got it like that. It´s a Solid movie for the rest. People have a problem with L3 but I felt like L3 was more of a joke about the SJW and feminism shit in the last one then that it was supposed to be taken seriously.

It may be a passable film, but SW fans want something really good, even great.  Still, Solo may have performed fine, but it has the misfortune of releasing after TLJ, a film that turned a lot of fans off of the series.  Trying to win them back with an average spinoff film wasn't going to work.

L3 was definitely not meant to be a joke.  This is Lucasfilm/Kathleen Kennedy we are talking about here.  They support the SJW message, so they aren't going to have a parody of a SJW in the film.  They even had interviews with the actress who played her talking about how inspirational L3 is.  The on the nose message may seem like parody, but that's what SJWs love.  Which is why they had no problem with the on the nose messages in TLJ.  There is a rumor/theory that the OG directors Lord and Miller did make L3 into a parody, which angered KK, and is why they actually got fired.

Well, you have to distract from Solo bombing somehow.  Funny, though, how I have not seen any proof of these hateful posts.  I only ever read about them.  Strange.

I stopped watching Star Wars movies the moment they replaced David Prowses voice with an African Americans.

Why is it a problem for the replacement to be an African American?

thatsthejoke

Dart Vader's voice was always a black man dubbing the lines

L3 just seems so over the top. It feels like a joke I wouldnt have a clue if they were being serious with her its so over the goddamn top.

On the Hateful posts they´ve been there. I dont follow her on Instagram but I see alot of posts on Twitter and Instagram that show screenshots of a few comments alot of em. Having people call you like that every single time you post something on social media in a huge mass as star wars fans drains you out physically and mentally.

Lol, this is 100% manufactured. They not only added it to her Wikipedia page, but they are watching her page like a hawk. Just to test it, I added "though no proof was given" in the line about the Instagram controversy. It was gone in seconds.

If they are there, then where are they on these news articles.  Everyone's writing about it, but no proof is given, at least in the few I have read.  I mean, TLJ has been out for ~6 months.  It's been out of all theaters for weeks.  Anything that was said to her would have been much worse at the beginning.  Now, all of a sudden with Solo flopping being in the headlines, meaning most would have moved on to the people in that film if they wanted to spew hate, she deletes her Instagram so it'll be the headlines.  This all just seems so deliberately manufactured to distract from how bad Solo is performing, with the added benefit of being able to attack the fanbase they hate so much.

So Kelly, people close to her and all the major news sources are wrong and it's all a big cover up.

Got it. Thanks.

That's right, question nothing.  Especially if it presents a belief you agree with.

Sorry, until I get actual proof of this story, I believe nothing.  I know that's a strange stance in this "accusation is evidence, me too" point in time, but I'll stick to it.  Also, from the stories I have read, Tran just did.  She said nothing about why.

Nevermind~

Remember when this thread was about SOLO? A long time ago? In a galaxy far far away?

Maybe we could try to steer it back in that general direction.
