It was the last game to be released with the logo that only had the Square portion, and not the Enix portion.

No, it was not. Have a look at the US release. The Enix is right there on the box.

That doesn't change the fact at all.

When the Enix is on the box, it kind of does.

Not really, you said they died the moment they merged with Square Enix. So, unless you think the Japanese and American versions are drastically different what you're saying holds no truth. However, even if it was true, that makes no sense at all, not enjoying a game specifically because it has Enix slapped on teh cover?

Are you doing this on purpose?

The game was produced and published in Japan by Squaresoft prior to the merge. It has the S-E logo on the US cover because it didn't release simultaneously worldwide and came out 8 months after the Japanese version. Months after the two companies merged.

i remember the time where square enix was still called Squaresoft, before they teamed up with enix. in this time the pruduced one jrpg hit after other...remember games like crono trigger, secret of mana, final fantasy, vagrant story, xenogears, crono cross, dragon quest, threads of fate, parasite eve, radiata stories, valkyrie profile, grandia, kingdom hearts, star ocean...as jrpg lover it wasn't even necessary to wait for a review (it's my opinion), and you knew already you would buy a game what you will enjoy, because it's from SQAURE ENIX, but then with the the generation of ps3/xbox this changed...something has gone wrong, but why?

The bolded were not published by Squaresoft.

Anyway, Square-Enix is more focused on making technically impressive cinematic experiences than fun games, but failed at doing even that because their proprietary engines were failures (until recently.) Excepting the Enix-side of things. Dragon Quest has retained its quality, but it is Dragon Quest after-all, that is a safety net.

Also I think Square let a lot of their talent leave the company to start their own stuff.

You must be trolling. Sure, Spirits Within was a passion project of Sakaguchi that should have never been green-lit. But when he left Square Soft, he took his creative magic with him and Square hasn't made a great game since.

If anyone needs/needed to be fired at Square. It's F***ING TETSUYA NOMURA

You mean the same creative magic behind less recent underwhelming works such as Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and maybe even The Last Story ?

All of which are miles above everything square Enix has done since ffx...

This man happened.
