Yer but lets be honest the MS mistakes were bigger. It turned me of XBOX ONE and I will never get one.

DRM (even though they pulled it)

Killer Instinct released as episodes insead of a full game to milk money.

Halo collection was missing data on the physical release that needed a 20gb download to complete.

thats just three early examples.

PS3 the only real mistake was the high price. It wasn't every general public friendly.

much higher price, hardware that wasn't really more powerful since most multiplats ran much better on xbox, especially early on, and shit controller. to me ps3 had way more mistakes, it was saved by its brand power.

PS3 had more powerful hardware but a more complex architecture and most third party developers didn't take advantage of PS3's massive CPU power lead over the Xbox 360.

2017 was a good year for video game fans. 2018 will be another great year.

I know ps3 was more over all more powerful, but i really doubt the cpu was  such a huge advantage, even the most talented dev's like rock star with huge budget couldn't get games to run better on ps3, it was just really shit designed hardware when the best devs can't even take advantage of it, even after many years 360 multiplats usually had a advantage, but early on it made ps3 look like shit. imo if most games don't run better then the console really doesn't deserve to be called more powerful.

PS3's CPU outperforms the PS4's CPU in many cases. GTA V also looks better on PS3 than on Xbox 360. Its the exclusives where PS3 really shines though, as the physics simulation in GT6 at 1080p60fps shows as do the graphics in God of War: Ascension, Uncharted 3 and Killzone 3.

Power isn't subjective, the PS3 was more powerful than Xbox 360 and that's an undisputed fact whether anyone agrees or not.

kinda of isn't a fact, they both had there advantages and disadvantages, depending on the game and developer. you even have developers saying this, as for GTAV, the 360 version was slightly better, and it was the most cpu demanding game last gen.

edit: has an overall advantage because of streaming issues caused by using the dvd format on 360.

Yes that's right.

MS literally handed them the market on a silver platter and the PS4 isn't even that far ahead of the XBO.

MS completely dominated Sony last gen in the US. That’s where a certain brand loyalty comes from. That they are losing on their home turf is still quite telling.

^ this.
Theres also alot of people in the US, that wont buy a PS4, because its from a japanese company, and would buy a xbox simply because its american.
With the brand loyality from last gen, you dont expect a full landslide victory for PS4, even if its winning the gen.

In the same vaine, world wide, I think there's the oppersite effect also at play (for the PS4).

How is that possible? It seems like Switch won most of its months since release.

the Switch has won the majority of months since it was released in March (6 against 3 I think), but two months of no sales versus PS4 most likely dominating Jan/Feb is a big difference... that and the PS4 had a giant November due to the price cut at $200. I imagine it wasn't a big difference in the total.

unless one console has an unusually giant November or December, the odds are in 2018 you'll know who sold the most as soon as the year ends via the number of monthly NPD wins.

The differnce in the yearly USA charts here (VGCs) are like ~600k between the two.
Its possible the Switch in jan + feb, could have made that many sales in the US? yes.

Congrats to PS4.

Sorry but that is simply not true. The PS3 version of GTAV had greatly improved lighting and ran smoother than the 360 version. It was a noticeable step up, all due to the much superior CPU.
