Yeah it's price is still very high. Plenty of room for cuts to keep the momentum going.

Probably should do it before summer starts, waiting to holiday might be too long. Pro is doing much better recently compared to the standard so that could wait to holiday (by sku)

At the end of the day they will do what they want. Sales vs less sales but more profit. However if it was up to me I'd leave it until the summer because the games line up for the next few months is decent but then I'd cut both the slim and pro.

Compared to other systems? Others systems such as the Xbox One and Wii U?

Of course!Bigger succeesses there are not! Lol

People like to say that "Japan is the land of handheld so of course the 3DS and the Switch are doing well there!", but the way I see it, Nintendo simply adapted to the market it is on with the Switch.PS4 is doing excellent worldwide and Sony cant appease every single market, but at the same time we cant say that the Switch sales on Europe are superb because Nintendo never does as well as other regions there, you cant say that the PS4 is doing superb in Japan because no one buys consoles there anymore.

You can say that the PS4 is having a decent growth there in comparison to the PS3, but as a videogame console is doing just ok there.

It's doing OK in terms of sales, but in terms of profit it's doing exceptionally well compared to ps3. Sony will be over the moon.

Good numbers for PS4, but somewhat said considering that up until 2017 PS4 had no competition on the home console market in Japan with the Wii U being a failure & xbox one being obsolet in japan anyway. The Ps3 on the other hand had the very successful Wii as its competition.

That's all well and good until you realise that for its first few years the ps4 had to share nearly all its games in Japan with ps3 and psv. A few were shared with Wii u, pc and 3ds as well but now they'll be sharing with the switch. In reality it never had the market to itself and for about 2 years the Wii u was actually putting up a fight.

Ps4 is king of its gen for home consoles and its a testiment to the product it actually has a chance to sell more then it's predecessor.

Not particularly impressive to be honest. But then again, as I keep saying, it's WW sales that matter.

Agree.

The problem here is that japan is imopttant for all the big japanese games

As good as one could expect..
I also remember the time people thought it wouldn't outsell WiiU

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Part of the problem is the work environment in Japan. A lot of the Japanese work really long hours and make long commutes, which makes home consoles a much harder sell than handhelds.

Yeah, I have heard how pushy japanese can be with their work enviroment.Thats why I think that Nintendo was smart to adapt to the market, without really killing either their handheld or home console side of business.

This is not really bashing Sony per se, just that I dont think we should be praising something that simply isnt impressive.I mean, how much longer are we going to say that these numbers are impressive or superb if home consoles keeps selling less and less there? Are we really going to, assuming its another tradicional home console, say that 5 or 6 million LT sales for the PS5 in Japan are great because home consoles are dying over there?

If you are capable of selling good numbers on a market that is not there anymore, sure that is impressive no matter how one twist it.

Not when the competition is doing far, far better.PS4 numbers are ok to good and only that.

Doesn't really matter, Japanese devs will keep making games regardless how PS4 performs in Japan.

So you want PS4 to become a hybrid just to win over another hybrid over in Japan? I guess they will be pleased with 10M in Japan if they can do 130M WW.

While we are at it then Wii was very bad since PS2 sold 160M WW.

You are basically saying the Wii did terribly in Japan as well then. Since Wii and PS4 have similar ratios of Japan/ everything else.

Imo, the Wii did well in Japan. The PS4 is doing well in Japan. And the Switch is doing well in Europe.

Not at all!Im not saying that the PS4 needs to become a hybrid.Quite the contrary, it found great suceess being what it is worldwide. But that dosent change the fact that the PS4 numbers on Japan are nothing special. But Im pretty sure Kaz is not losing its sleep over it, considering how the PS4 is absolutely destroying everything outside of Japan

Dont put words in my mouth.I never said that the PS4 is doing terrible in Japan.I said that the PS4 is not doing superb or inpressive or anything like that. Its just doing ok, much like the Wii in Japan.
