Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 sells 6m in Japan

According to mediacreate the ps4 has now sold 6.027m units. Many people doubted it could ever reach this number and as it shows no signs of slowing down it will blow past 8m like I once predicted and eventually sell over 10m.

Congrats to PS4, but thats not something to be really proud of.Yes, the home console market has shrunk alot there, and yes it might pass the PS3(so LT sales at around 10 millions) but its still somewhat low to what other sustem are doing in that country, and more importantly, what the PS4 is doing worldwide.

The PS4 is going in the right direction to try to improve the situation managing to get titles like MH in the system, but honestly Sony needs to think of a better strategy to win over their home country back.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Stop with the "many people doubted this" lol.

Ps4 will be over 8mil lifetime easily, 10mil is still in reach and more. Itll be a clearer picture after 2018 sales. Price cut is still on the table

Let's take a look at other home consoles from its generation. Xb1 88k and WiiU 3m.

Yeah it's doing pretty superb by current market standards for traditional home consoles. Considering how much more profitable ps4 is compared to ps3 especially when you consider ps plus subs, Sony must be delighted with Japan this gen compared to last.

Yeah it's price is still very high. Plenty of room for cuts to keep the momentum going.

Congrats PS4, but we need a price cut soon. E3 are to late

Probably should do it before summer starts, waiting to holiday might be too long. Pro is doing much better recently compared to the standard so that could wait to holiday (by sku)

nice to hear, let's see what boost will become from monster hunter

Not particularly impressive to be honest. But then again, as I keep saying, it's WW sales that matter.

The PS5 Exists.

You point out that the home console market has shrunk in Japan and yet say a home consoles sale is low compared to other home consoles.... weird.

Anyways. while japan sales isn't setting the world on fire. the PS4 is still the best selling home console over there this generation and seems to be on track to doing better than the PS3.
