Forums - Gaming Discussion - GPD Win 2 handheld gaming PC for $699

Curious to see what this can do. The original could run games like Skyrim and Crysis at a decent 30 fps but at low settings.

If this can run last gen games well at 720p med/high settings, that would be a big deal for its size.

Basically, we arent far from Windows 10 being a great handheld gaming platform.

The Kaby lake Core m3 already costs 281$ a piece when you buy 1000 of them. Add to this the M.2 SSD and the other components, and it won't get any cheaper than the 450$ of the previous iteration of this handheld PC.

It's a good build, basically the best you can do right now when you want to create a handheld based on PC, but that doesn't change that the iGP isn't any good at gaming. It could play Rocket league and Fifa 18 on the lowest settings in 720p30fps, though.

Much cheaper: 512 GB SSD M.2 2242 for €160 - €170:

That's a reasonable price, thanks for the heads-up!

You might prefer their UMPChttp://www.redtechbot.com/blog/gpd-pocket/

I considered it, but at the momentm, the Win 2 has more features and has a gamepad.

The built-in gamepad is a plus if you'd want to play on it.

Updated the OP with some notes they game on performance, already mentioned it in the thread, but some might miss it:

  • Grand Theft Auto 5: GPD Win is around 20 fps and GPD Win 2 is about 38 fps.
  • Overwatch: GPD Win from under 30 fps and GPD Win 2 is more than 70 fps.
  • DOTA 2: GPD Win from must over 30 fps and GPD Win 2 goes to 70 fps.
Seems like it doubles the performance.

Tempting

GPD has announced that the GPD Win 2 will sell for $599 during an Indieogogo campaign set to launch on or around January 15th. When the little computer hits retail stores in April, it’ll sell for around $699.

And, LOL, they tried to run BotW xD

Not sure how ergonomic it is, but the price, size, battery and power seem good.
