Forums - Sony Discussion - Right, do we think a PS4 Portable is coming?

Would a portable PS4 even be possible from a technical perspective? Like even ignoring the issue with power is it possible to shrink the PS4 architecture down to a handheld? I feel like they would end up with a system that would still require a dedicated ports from the PS4 as opposed to playing it's entire library right out the gate like the standard PS4 or the pro so it would be less of a portable PS4 and more so a psp3

For now the Tegra chip is the stronger gpu+cpu and Nvidia has signed an exclusivity with Nintendo for at least 2 generations.  Sony will need to find a new hardware partner.

Where did Nvidia sign exclusivity? Source?

Can sony get a mobile chipset that has the power to run ps4 games at 720p? Within a year, maybe.
Would they be compatable with ps4? Hell no. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to scale down x86 on a mobile chipset thats HALF as powerful as a switch within a reasonable size...

Nvidia has spoken of an expected 20-year partnership with Nintendo and nintendo games are releasing on the Nvidia shield. It is safe to assume some sort of exclusivity deal went down (Nintendo doesn't hand their IP out willy nilly these days), even if the details have not been disclosed.

Bullshit. A long partnership doesn't automatically include exclusivity. ATi/AMD also had a long partnership with Nintendo (GameCube -> Wii -> Wii U).

No one said it automatically did. but for the reason I explained above the deal with Nvidia seems diffrent.

AMD didn't get any Nintnendo IP on their systems for their troubles, nor did they announce a 20-year partnership beforehand. It was clearly always on a per-console-contract basis.

No need to get vulgar by the way.
