Wasn't it confirmed that the Switch "won" Black Friday?

Online only.

Oh ok.

I think this is a clear indication of the interest in Switch dropping. It had no supply issues in this region, the $299 was still considerably less than the Pro or Xbox One X and it also had Mario and Zelda going for it this year, something that won't be true for next year. I don't see 2018 being a good year for Switch. It has no interesting big name exclusive, I don't think either Metroid or Pokemon will make it to 2018. I hope it pulls through and succeeds, though. With the Wii U failing, at least Nintendo had the 3DS to rely on.

Eh the 3DS is gonna eventually bow out in 2018 or 2019. Not much besides localizations of Japanese games and a few other titles have been confirmed for the 3DS next year. Plus we’re already seeing the signs of the first party teams moving onto to the Switch with most of this year’s first party games were games utilizing old assets (ie, FE Echoes, M&L:SS, and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon) or games made with third-party partnerships (ie Hey Pikmin, Ever Oasis, and Metroid Samus Returns).

And with no BF deals or bundles (besides the already sold out Splatoon 2 and Odyssey bundles), the Switch sold relatively close to what the PS4 did back in 2013 (or was it ‘14?) in its first year. We haven’t even seen the full lineup of games for the Switch in 2018 because Nintendo hasn’t focused too much on 2018 during its directs of this year, which makes sense. They said they have more in store for 2018 so let them announce when they are ready to. We’re assuming the worst when they haven’t shown all their cards yet for 2018.

This is the Switch's best selling month, so it only "dropped" in the sense that it wasn't as big as March.

I'm curious, what was the library of games like for the PS4 in November 2014, since that's what keeps getting brought up?

Switch has two of Nintendo's most popular icons leading the charge and the follow-up to its best selling new IP in its first year. There is no question that this has been an absolute killing of year in terms of iconic releases for Switch. I don't recall PS4 having nearly as good of an opening year in terms of the BIG releases, but is that just cause I can't remember that far back?

Zelda BotW, Splatoon 2, and Mario Odyssey are all huge must-own games for the Switch, so why would people put off purchasing one during the holidays this year if not for price aversion?

They did mention December will probably be better for the Switch considering history. Plus the PS4 and Xbone has better deals. You can’t beat a $199 price tag with 4-year old established libraries.

Those who care about Animal Crossing or Pokemon? I know about three of my friends that are waiting for Pokemon.

When your console sells 900k in November with no deals like the other two and your now considered as losing interest. Then you look at online retailers and the console is in the top 10 everywhere..

What I find amusing, is they would use ZhugeEx information to downplay one, when he highlights all three did amazing well.

There is no such all 3 did well. Hell if this was another wiiu year the x1 would be taking all the heat. Only reason why switch is going through this (select users) is because switch won a couple of npds and has had a very successful launch.

Of course it goes both ways. In this case switch sales are being blown out of proportion. Ps4 sales were incredibly high, like beyond amazing and of course in comparison switch doesnt look as good when ignoring a number of things.

In defense of switch it wasnt discounted. So goal post turn into "ps4 was 399" aligned and so forth.

Last thing. Ps4 only aligned console that is as high as it is wii. Those 2 are a special kind of explosion in terms pf sales. (Though wii died after its 4th year) Switch might not be that high but its higher than almost every other HH/HC aligned. But it will fall off a cliff apparently because its sales arent as high as the ps4 peak year........

Hopefully Dec all numbers are closer. Hell i dont care if ps4 takes number 1 but i only want switch to be 1st so then we can stop hearing switch will collapse next year lol.

Way too early to assume that considering it was best month of sales for the Switch since launch month (that is iirc).

Never use amazon to judge the success for a game.  That's why I cringe when I see people putting so much weight game chart position s

I know that. I told quick amazon isn’t a good indicator for a games success. He seems to think amazon is. Lol

I don't think amazon is a good indicator of anything at all.
