WE don't negotiate with Terrorists.

Both parties have terrorized other countries.

Wow, went RIGHT over your head, didn't it?

Trump is using fear to get what he wants in a political setting (using fear of immigration to get elected and fear of government shutdown if he doesn't get what he wants.) In the loosest definition of Terrorist, Trump is indeed a terrorist in this instance. Democrats aren't negotiating with him or conceding to him because he doesn't deserve concessions. He's wrong, he's terrible, he's petulant and childish, and he's just the worst sort of person short of actual rapists and murderers and child molesters.

But then again, best not to dissect a joke, because like a frog you might finally understand it but the frog dies in the process.

What exactly is there to negotiate.  Trump has not given anything to the Dems to make them budge.  He has blamed them for everything even when he is the one who stated he wanted the shutdown.  If you remember the Dems tried to work with Trump and was willing to give him his 25 billion for the wall.  I guess you forgot what happened then as well.  Right wing media blew it up just like they did now and he backed out.  After that point and another back out by Trump, why would the Dems go through that again.  Right wing media is what controls Trump and so if the Dems want to negotiate they should go to them first and not Trump.

Everyone knows this isn't about the wall.  It's definitely not about boarder security because there really isn't a real plan from the WH.  5.6 Billion isn't building anything.  It's definitely not putting into place any real security with that wall and exactly what will it cover.  It's a 15 year project that will cost probably 50 Billion or more.  It's just another stunt from Trump to say he did something but we are footing the bill or for his ego.

This can all end if McConnell put the vote on the bills that passed the house on the Senate floor and they can push it through without the President.  This is about politics on both sides and the GOP and the President have given nothing for the Dems to change their minds.  When the GOP had the majority in Congress and the White House, they didn't even try to pass a bill for this wall.  The GOP didn't want it and Trump really didn't care.  Now that the Dems control the house we are all to believe that the wall is so important now, after 2 years not caring.  This is the reason con men thrive in the US.  The polls will be what make any movement on this issue and when the GOP see favor slipping for their future 2020 bid, then McConnell will put those bills on the Senate floor and we will move on.

The real reason for the shutdown is that Mango Mussolini doesn't want to take his lazy ass to work.

Maybe i took your original reply to literal. What i meant was that you don't want people to negotiate with terrorist but since both parties have committed acts of terror then there would be no bipartisanship or collaboration which would lead to an ineffective government. Wanting to stop illegal immigration makes him almost as bad as rapist, murders, and molesters? I think you're reaching with that statement.

This info comes from the government. They even break it down by month.

That's apprehensions and inadmissions at the border.  You said illegal entry.  That's very different.

Illegal entry means they got in.  This chart shows those they prevented from getting in.   In fact, this really shows we don't need a wall at all.  Looks like we already do a damn good job stopping most attempts.

There are still millions of peop;e that enter unauthorized from the southern border. rougly 45% of the 12m Mxicans in the US entered illegeally and most people that enter from the southern border are not even Mexican so the total number is way higher.

TBH Trump was dumb to back off from the DACA deal. It would have helped DACA recipients not have to live with the fear of getting deported and would have gave lots of money towards the wall.

Trump has offered things Democrats want though. He is willing to increase things like technology in the southern border which democrats have been asking for. He has alo said that it does not even have to be a whole wall but can also be a large fence which Democrats have wanted for awhile now.

Wait there are actually people that still support that madman?
wow...just...wow. I hope I never meet you face to face in RL I would probably throw up.

Trump has a trust problem.  The Dems do not trust him and he hasn't shone he can be trusted.  Right now, the Dems are saying we will do nothing about wall as part of opening the government.  They do not want it included in the deal period.  They have stated they want this to be something done properly and a comprehensive reform not some one off BS that will be on the next agenda come February.   I cannot really blame them because if they back down now they will continue to back down every time Trump pulls this stunt again.  Actually the last talks he just had with the Dems he just threw another demand down saying fund his wall in 30 days.  Of course the Dems said no and he walked out of the meeting.  If you believe that is negotiating where you throw out demands but give nothing in return, then Trump is doing great.

The thing is, Trump really isn't looking to negotiate and he really isn't concerned about the shutdown since it stalls the current investigations (federal) going on.  Hell, Manafort lawyers revealed that he was passing data to a Russian agent during the campaign including after he was let go.

In the meeting he asked about what he can do to get them to agree to the wall and then asked if he were to open the government would they fund the wall. They said no to both of these and Trump has offered them nw tech in the border, a fence etc. He left because they don't want to cut a deal.

new tech in the border, a fence etc. aren't particularly good offerings. It seems to me that many of those who voted for the Democrats are fundamentally against the wall, they have to achieve a realy good deal to sell it to their followers.

Yeah but tech and a fence are things Democrats have wanted. In he also ask them what they want in the meeting and they didn't bring anything.

But are these the only things they want in exchange for the wall? I haven't seen a confirmation on that and as I said I highly doubt that those are the only things they demand.
