Man, this just keeps getting better and better

This is becoming a farce now. EA is treating it like a F2P game, but it costs $60, $80 for the deluxe edition. I get that the DLC is free for this one, so they needed to compensate for the lost season pass sales, but this is ridiculous. Why couldn't they just stick to cosmetic lootboxes? Overwatch has proved you can make plenty of money from cosmetic lootboxes, far more than you'd ever make from a season pass. The Star Wars universe has plenty of cosmetic type stuff to choose from, all the different outfits the heroes wore in each movie, the various stormtrooper armor variants, different alien species you could play as, etc. I'm sure I could come up with a list of at least 200 additional cosmetics to go alongside the cosmetics that are already in Battlefront 2. Imagine how many people would have bought lootboxes to unlock an orange rarity slave Leia costume faster?

Who can be bothered to pay those damn artists a bunch more money drawing 200 additional skins? Better to pocket that, and just charge for things you don't have spend a bunch of time on, like power boosts and shit.

Blizzard is now taking pot shots at EA

I wonder if this will be an action that many decide to take. I don't know that it'll have a huge effect, but maybe even a small dent can send at least some kind of message to EA.

The problem is, that gamers, just like moviegoers, etc., have proven continually, that they are perfecting willing to get "bent over a barrel", and still pay for it. That the majority are perfectly willing to pay for hot garbage, and because they pay for it, it makes money, and because it makes money, the big companies continue putting out hot garbage. Same reason they continue practices that screw over the consumer, because the consumer will willingly get screwed over, and still pay for it, and still "love it". Enough of them anyway.

That's specifically for EA Sports, not the entire EA Games

Ah.

But decided to look through EA games and see when I last bought one. Last games I purchased from EA were Mass Effect 1, Spore and Dragon Age Origins.

So, 2008, 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Since then I have not purchased a game from EA that I can see. I did download the Star Wars Battlefront 1 demo. And I suppose I got Battlefield 1 packaged with my One S (never did install it though. Suppose I could give away code to anyone that wants it)

That is about the same as me.  Boom Blox (2008) and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (2009) were my last two games from EA.

I do play The Simpsons Tapped Out mobile game, but it is a free to play game that I have never spent money on.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

You're spot on. 100%. Companies want to profit, it's up to the public to vote with the wallet. Unfortunately, people keep supporting this 60 bucks game with F2P mechanics. I wonder if at some point most of the big online games will be completely Pay 2 Win and we, REAL gamers, will have to limit our buys to single player titles or games that still try to profit with quality instead of shady stuff, like the Witcher, Persona, basically all Nintendo games, etc.

I don't have complaints about free games with microtransactions. At least you didn't pay anything so you know what you're in for.

Should have just gotten yourself a Gamecube and Rouge Squadron 2. That game is all the Star Wars I need.
