Forums - Gaming Discussion - You like Breath of the Wild? Then you need to play Dragon's Dogma.

Breath of the Wild is an amazing game. A great twist to the Zelda franchise. An epic third person quest. A huge world to explore with rewards every step of the way. A feeling of helplessness at first and power near the end. Great combat that rewards experimentation.

Check!

While it may not have cooking, a lot of physics puzzles, and whimsy, Dragon's Dogma keeps up with Zelda where it counts. You'll get as much out of it as you put in. Heck, you might even enjoy DD more. The first time you climb a pile of rocks and it turns into a hulking stone beast, you'll see.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen rereleases on Xbox One and PS4 this week. Give it a shot.

Word of warning: This is a cheap port. Aside from a silky smooth framerate, there's no noticeable improvement here.

I'm actually pretty interested in playing that.
Hopefully Capcom decides to port to Switch, but not holding my breath.

I hope and pray that they would. I bought the original twice last gen and I've already pre-ordered the rerelease! A Switch version would have been ideal but I'm just excited to dive back into the world. It has a lot of unique elements that I wish more people could experience.

While I've yet to properly play Breath of the Wild, I can agree Dragon's Dogma is a fantastic game. I've bought it four times already (and beaten it around seven times) and I can't wait to revisit it once again.

I love Breath Of The Wild. I didn't like Dragons Dogma...

I was so disappointed by Dragon's Dogma.  I couldn't be more adverse to this threads advertisement.  Watch a few parts of a Let's Play of Dragon's Dogma and see if it's for you first.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Loved Dragon's Dogma on the PS3. One of my favorite 7th Gen games. Can't wait to get that Platinum again.

I would say if you ever played Breath Of The Wild, Dark Souls or Skyrim and though "I wish I had three characters helping me with this game at all times" Then Dragons Dogma might be for you.

I plan to get it the next time I find the PC version on sale.

"While it may not have cooking, a lot of physics puzzles,"

Cooking and motion controlled shrines are my least favorite parts of Breath of the Wild. Physics puzzles in general? Great! Just not the motion controlled once.

Crafting is fine generally speaking but the process of cooking in BotW just feels tedious. Having to go to the inventory; shift through the items; select each item you want to cook with without selecting an incorrect item because then you gotta drop them all and start selecting over again; then actually place those ingredients on a pan over a flame; skip the cooking animation; sit through the 2-3 second item description; then repeat the process for EACH. INDIVIDUAL. DISH...or elixir...

The Dark Arisen expansion pretty much took the game from mediocre to great. People saying that they didn't like Dragon's Dogma likely played the original version, without all the improvements brought in the expansion.
