Highly unlikely. I didn't see anything that didn't look out of place in any Resident Evil or Silent Hill game in "IT". I've yet to see the original, but my wife tells me it's much better.

What?

Also, highly unlikely? IT can definitely be the beginning of bigger investments in horror. Look at R-rated comedies before and after the first The Hangover. It changed the game. Even Logan might have not been R if not for Deadpool's boxoffice performance. Movies like IT change the game for their genres.

I didn't like it. Most others will, but I've always gone against the crowd. Just the way I am.

In 10 days, the film has made more than $370M. I wonder if this could actually dethrone Passion of the Christ as highest grossing R-rated film of all time. Count the fact that Chapter 2 is going to be an obvious success as well, and this film is already technically a billion dollar film.

It won't outgross Passion of the Christ, it's tracking to end up around $345-$350M, but that's nothing to scoff at. Also, how is it already technically a billion dollar film? If it ends with $350M domestic, it needs $650M overseas. Where is it going to get all that money from?

That's why I said include Chapter 2. Chapter 2 is confirmed for a release next year, and it can arguably be counted as the same film, since that's how the original works as well.

Regardless of how big this movie has gotten, it will never top Tim Curry's take on Pennywise.

I love playing pretend!

No but honestly...Tim Curry's take on Pennywise is cringe-worthy after seeing IT 2017.

In 20 years, people will cringe by the 8th time Pennywise spazzes out and slides towards the kid he's scaring.

I thought the kids were pretty good in the 2017 movie, but Pennywise was kind of weak IMO. It's comical, the extent to which they made him looks like a scary clown. By the end, when the kids were beating up on him and he was getting scared, I felt kind of bad for him. Probably not the intention of the filmmakers.

That doesn't make sense since IT 2017 had no technological constraints, how would time be a factor here? IT 2017 works on every level and feels like a complete movie wether it's story, plot, makeup, acting, atmosphere, you name it.

Time is not a requirement to see that IT 1990 was cringe-worthy, people have been saying it since it released. But now that IT 2017 is here, it is just THAT much more apparent!

I remember the mini-series being pretty well received. Of course, I was a kid then, so maybe that invalidates my opinion. But since I'm an adult now, I'd imagine that would give a bit more weight to my opinion on the new movie.

Time will tell of course, but I think audiences will eventually turn on, LOUD NOISE!, "SCARY" FACE! kind of horror.

The development of the kids (except for Stanley and Mike who have pretty much nothing to do) is good though. So that will always hold up. But I never thought the kids part was that bad in the miniseries either. It was always the adult part where I tuned out. Now that was really bad.

I also remember being totally into IT when I was a kid, we have a higher suspension of belief as children and don't really recquire too much to get the imagination going.

Yeah, time will tell. I agree with most people when they say it wasn't that scary, more-so just an all around good movie. I find that IT 2017 did a very good job making the IT character moodishly entertaining as opposed to resorting to talking to the camera and being more of a show for the audience, if that makes any sense.

The adult part was bad, probably what brought down the movie for most. Direct to TV though so...

Eh, The Miniseries was a product of its time. And it worked. Tim Curry did a fantastic job, given what he was going for. Where IT 2017 is successful is it captures more of the "grunge" of the book, while being a very different beast from the 1990 Miniseries.

It's why I don't compare them directly.

Okay, that's definitely fair. I mean, you have two different productions looking for two different outcomes in the same genre.

^^ Biggest pile of rubbish I have ever read.

Please name the horror movies released today that are "the best of all time"

Asian horror isnt for everyone. They are oftem misunderstood and watched only when certain movies reach a certain level of fandom and become "muat see movies".

Part of the charm of asian horror is the low budget, high atmosphere look from Dark Water to Kairo.

They are far more effective then the Wan type demon running towards the screen scenes of today.

Your response is both disrespectful and pretentious. You're not arguing anything new since everything you posted is already addressed. I don't need to repeat myself.

I am not going to get a decent constructive response out of you without satisfying your ego, so here:
