also jeez your post was hard to understand lol.

But no, its sold more copies of the game on the PS4 than 3DS in japan.

"We have seen stronger sales of the PlayStation 4 version than the Nintendo 3DS version, but given the installed base, we have high hopes for growth in sales of the Nintendo 3DS version going forward as well"

This the same thing I wrote above, it does not say PS4 outsell the 3DS, it just says for their installed base they expected 3DS to sell more because there are over 20 million 3ds hardware sold, compare to ps4 having 5 million hardware sold, so the ratio of people who own it for ps4 is higher than 3DS, but it do not mean it sold more than the 3DS. Square is hoping they can sell 5 million software to the 20 million 3DS owners, but those owners already left, or sold their hardware to get a Switch, most I see it selling on 3DS is around Monster Hunter XX for 3ds numbers

Yes it does ffs.

"but given the installed base, we have high hopes for growth in sales of the Nintendo 3DS version going forward as well"

^ this means because there are 20m 3DS in japan, vs 5m PS4's, they "hope" in the future DQ will start selling more on the 3DS.

But right now... its sold more on the PS4.

Yeah despite being a succesor to the 3DS and Wii U sales aligned the Switch is just keeping up with the 3DS. Sales are excellent but this puts them into perspective.

It's considered a home console by Nintendo and not a successor to the 3DS.

"Fils-Aime made it clear that though the Nintendo Switch is a portable console, it is a home console and not a replacement for what Nintendo wants to accomplish with the 3DS and 2DS."

Stop doing what you're doing.

I would like some of those kerotan perspective glasses , seems to be funny as heck.

Combined sales

Switch - 87,798
3DS - 45,730
PS4 - 42,462

You stole my bit!

Awesome hold for Switch, wonder how long this will keep going.

That logic makes no sense. If you're gonna go with that then that means something like the PS4 can only be compared to PS3 sales. And going by that logic back as well during the last generation the PS3 and PSP were both out, each selling (or shipped) 80 million, for a combined total of over 160 million. So the PS4 current 60 million must be a huge failure in your eyes then going by that. Because even though the PS4 wasn't originally made to replace their handhelds, it certainly has at this point considering how they stopped supporting the Vita properly years ago, so one could say that the PS4 became the main thing instead of a seperate handeld + console just like you're saying with the Switch.

Do you think that the Switch should cost more than $600 then to make up the combined costs of how much a 3DS + Wii U would be? No, because it's $300, the price of a home console.

I understand your point but I disagree.  If ps4 was a hybrid then yes we could say it needs to sell ps3 + psp numbers.  But it's a traditional home console so that would be ridiculous.

If ps5 has a hybrid sku then we would be saying it needs to sell ps4 + vita numbers.

Well you don't understand my point then, but whatever you can try to use that logic all you want, I won't since that makes no sense at all.

Also @ bolded: You can try to spin it all you want, but the Switch being a hybrid doesn't mean it's not a home console anymore. Just because it can now do both the same as Nintendo's portable as well doesn't mean it is not still a home console as well. Nintendo has said and marketed it this entire time as a console you can take on the go. Acting like because it does something else as well means that it can't be compared to other 'traditional home consoles' in your mind is ridiculous.

Splatoon 2: 1m after 4 weeks in Japan (4 weeks) / Insane legs (it's up this week) / Impressive attach rate

Switch: Up from last week again (despite it already being an amazing week)

PS4 and 3DS keep doing well! That's good.

What makes me happier is that Nintendo fullfiled their promise of delivering more in July and even more from August on. Switch sales will be amazeballs during the holidays.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Actually, he says PS4 sales are stronger, not that it sold more. Since he was putting in context install bases and all, it definitely shows that it's doing stronger given it has 1/4 of the 3DS install base. And to be fair, the other way around doesn't make sense: according do MC, physically it's 1.57 (3DS) and 1.24m (PS4). 3DS version probably has a 10% digital rate, as normal on Nintendo consoles so it's probably at 1.7m+. How much is it on PS4, 20%? Even if we are to be very optimistic, let's say 25%, it would be 1.5~1.6m, wouln't it? So, unless the PS4 version has something like 40% digital attach rate, it would be impossible for it to be ahead.

Holy Switch! Almost as much as all the rest taken together. And Splatoon 2 almost at a million already

August NPD will be interesting to see if Nintendo really can deliver so many consoles or if it's just prioritizing Japan

Yeah, they're probably prioritizing Japan. I'll retract my statement if the Switch gets 300k or more in the August NPD.

I don't see how they could release Mario x Rabbids with less than 250k shipped that month.

Since when did pr talk become fact?  And it's not a replacement for the 3DS because that can still sell at its very low price point.  It's a succesor and as we've seen in the past succesor does not mean a console will die off straight away.

You just said it yourself.  marketed as a console on the go.  Aka portable. That's exactly what the PSP was.  A console like the ps2 on the go. My point is it is both home console and portable.

Seeing Crash Bandicoot and Dragon Quest up like this makes me happy, even if I haven't played those.
